Hey Everyone.. If we're talking about supporting the Buells.. let's do it for real.. let's make it a tiered contingency. If no Buell is on the podium, then they get an amount for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place Buell's racing (finishing order).. If they PODIUM, then the amount goes UP! ie: Buell 'A' finishes 1st among all Buells racing. But finished 4th all around. The team gets $100. Buell 'B' finishes 2nd among all Buells racing, finishing 6th all around. The team gets $50. Next Race - Buell 'A' finishes 1st among all Buells racing, 2nd step of the podium the team gets $200. Buell 'B' finishes 2nd among all Buells racing, 4th over all, the team gets $50. Something like that.. I'd be happy to help figure the actual numbers once we know what our purse will be, what and how many races we're talking about.. etc.. What's the thought on this sort of thing? later, |

Peter (Blublak), I like that idea. I'm pretty good at coming up with formulas too. To which and/or how many races the contingency will apply is the question I am pondering now. If we can get enough of a fund generated, we could cover the entire season and include a season championship award too. My goal is $20K. Come on people, let's help get Buell FX racers to the races and competitive! |

Blake, I kinda agree proportioning is the way to go - and how to divide the pot is gonna be based on its eventual size. I feel it can be kept simple - 1/2 going to highest, 1/3 to 2nd highest, remainder to 3rd highest IF we have enough of a pot to carry beyond Daytona, that'd be sweet... but I'm wondering if it'd make more of a splash to shoot the wad on Daytona - one big purse will grab more headlines than a dribbling of smaller payouts over an entire season. If it turns out that there's more money then maybe save up for a series points award at the end of the season? |

Blake....okay, I'm back. Now here are some questions I have (in general): How is the "fund" being managed? Do you have a "BadWeatherBikers" checking account? Is this going to be an effort for the 2005 season, starting in Daytona? Who's making the stickers? Will they have a BWB "logo" (is there such a beast)? Who will be presenting the checks? Will there be someone at each event to administer the funds? Who will be contacting the teams to get them involved? It seems to me that Henry Duga would be a great starting point. Thanks!!! Dennis |

And regardless of WHAT your opinion of Mladin is, let's pray he's OK. There's no report on his condition as of this moment. http://venus.13x.com/roadracingworld/scripts/NewsInsert.asp?insert=11331 |

Sounds like Mladins going to be ok, was complaining of some leg pain but seems to be about it. Also both Hals bikes crashed, I wonder if its tires or if that new Daytona configuration is going to take some time to figure out the groove? Hal’s Performance Advantage Buell’s Mike Ciccotto also crashed Tuesday afternoon in the chicane. According to his team, Ciccotto “hurt” his right hand and suffered a concussion but did not go to the hospital. Ciccotto’s teammate Dan Bilansky crashed without injury Tuesday morning. |

When would the cash have to be mailed or paypal'd by, and can you put in less than $100 or is it that or nothing? I don't mean to be a cheapie but its been raining and I'm missing a lot of work because of it. But if there is time to make up the work I'd like to be at least a small part of this... |

Someone asked about how contingency works, Court gave a pretty good explanation for it. But there are a few steps involved before a check gets handed to someone. Basically the three steps are as follows. 1. The people offering the contingency advertise and get riders/teams to fill out forms prior to the start of the season. Advertisement shows purse payout and what teams need to do to qualify. 2. If the applicants meet all the contingency requirements (Must be riding a Buell, must prominently display Sponsor sticker/patch on Bike/Leathers, etc). The teams get the stickers, stick them on their bikes and go racing. 3. After the race, teams submit copies of official results to sponsor and sponsor cuts them the check for the amount promised based on the result. You can read some actual contingency forms/applications/rules at the Formula USA Website HERE |

In the AMA, and possibly in FUSA, you definitely have to pay them a fee to handle the contingency program. |

A thought: How about making whatever sticker displayed by the racers to garner badweb support available to supporting members...say at $20 a pop? Rob |

Contingency also depends largely on the sponsor as well as the organiizer. F-USA (CCS) BRAG contingency was a race-by-race contingency. I actually made $100 just for not crashing in Vegas! Originally, I hadn't signed up, thinking (mistakenly) that the pay-out woulr only go to the first few Buells. Duga told me to sign up and heck, I got some money outta the deal. (next time you are wondering where your BRAG dollars go, don't blame me!) |

Blake, FUSA charges $1000 for administration of each contingency plan; the AMA charges much more. Puts a dent in the $4000, doesn't it! You might want to reconsider the contingency concept... |

Might be better to just contact the teams of interest and ask them how much they'd charge to carry the banner/sticker/decal on their race bikes for a season. Just a thought. |

Mikrj brings up a point - if Badweb SPONSORS a team - we can do anything we wand. CONTINGENCY muddies the water. Sponsorship does again beg the question of WHICH team to get the $$$ |
