Hi everyone, I'm a former Buell owner (96 S1) and I'm thinking about buying a new City X. Having recently ridden an XB 12, I'm concerned about the excessive heat from the fan that really warmed up the seat to the point of being uncomfortable. Has anyone else experienced this? Does the thicker seat on the City X help? Thanks

BJuell,
I've had a 96 S1 and still have my 98 S1.
My XB9R will be three years old in April.
When the air temps are in the 90's and you come to a stop, you will notice some heat, just like with any motorcycle. When your riding you don't notice it and the heat is no where as bad as when riding the S1 in the 90's. My S1 and S3 cooks my legs and butt in the heat.
Get an XB you'll love it.

You'll have so much fun riding a Buell, you won't even notice the heat! At least I don't.

I have a XB9S and have no heat problems in the summer(Man I wish it were summer in Michigan!) That fan does a great job of dissipating heat. However, we rarely get temperatures above 80 in Northern Michigan.
Get the XB City X!!!

I live in Yuma, Az and while I have an R model, I don't find the heat from the fan to be excessive. My leg cooks a little when it's 115 but the trick is to not stop! LOL!

On an XB9R the only heat seems to come from the flashing lights I've occasionally seen in the rear view mirrors. Just twisting the throttle a little further makes it go away!

As an owner of both old and new Buell models I will share my thoughts on the new XB9SX.
More Fun, Less Quirky, Less Weight, Less Heat, did I mention More Fun?

No real issue with the heat vs say, my Ninja which really cooked me good in summer.

It will help to use a quality synthetic to keep heat at bay (yes it does help). In summer, I plan on using Redline 20-60W to assist with this.

When I first got my 9SX, I was worried about the heat too - seems like it has become almost a non-issue after the bike has been broken in.

I had a S2 and thought the heat from the S2 was more abusive than on the XB. Makes me think I lost my bladder control when it is a little chilly out.
