Anyone with experience installing different intakes on a Blast please post here. The Forcewinder and the Hypercharger look like nice additions to a Blast. I have this pic if a Blast with a Hypercharger installed. He must have just modified an elbow to mount this thing parallel to the bike: Also here is a Forcewinder on a Blast: One of those two intakes and this BUB exhaust with the proper re-jet for my altitude(close to sea level) will improve the looks of my bike and make me an even happier Blaster. and I'm pretty happy as it is. (On another note, when asked by my buddy, an S3T owner why I bought my Blast, I said "Because I was able to get a basically new 1000 mile bike for $2000) |

I like the looks and performance of the Forcewinder, but be sure to carve out the cavity for the float bowl breather if it is one of the newer versions where that cavity is a small machined out cavity versus the older large cast-in cavity. Aaron of NRHS posted details and pics of the issue in the KV under one of the Dyno test topics. |

Hardest part will be a support system for the intake - for something that heavy - I'd recommend springs and a solid brace to the carb from the bottom area directly under the carb to the motor. No one's got this totally right yet - though the springs alone do work for the carb/stack combo - lol GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

I've said it before & I'm saying it again... Loli's bike has upwards of 10K miles with the Pro Series intake with NO bracing whatsoever & no recurring carb boot issues. You guys can go spending time and dollars doing whatever goofy stuff ya want but have some faith in the factory. Like everything else on these bikes, most problems with the carb boots tend to come from service issues. Either that or I've wound up with magical carb boots straight from the dealer. -Saro |

I'm with Saro on this one, I had a ton of miles on my intake boot with the Pro-series before it failed. And whe it did fail it was very predictable. Then again, the Amuminum Forcewinder has got to be havier than the Pro-Series set up, and would probablynee ome sort of support. The Keys to keeping the intake boots alive it to not overtighten the hose clamp, check the clamps at least weekly when you check your tire presure to make sure that they are still snug, and to not squeeze the intake with you knees. Realistically, If I have to check something besides oil once a week, there is something wrong.I dont believe the boot is that maintenance intensive and if it becomes so, it should be fixed. |

Eric, I check my tire presure and oil at least weekly on my bikes, and at least monthly on the cars. I really don't have a problem taking a good look at my bike at least on a monthly basis. In reality, I only looked at the intake monthly (If that), before I'd go on a 400-500 mile ride. Usually the same time I washed the bike, checked the brake pads, checked out the Belt for wear or breaks etc... James |

That sounds more like it! I check 'The Beast' along the same lines. The Blasts minimum need of maintenance was a big selling point, thats why if I had to get all maintenance obsessive about it, I'd ditch the bike!~ After you get a lot of miles on a bike (like yours), you do become tuned in to what needs attention. |

Alright, I'm sure that there are alot of us watching the used pro series intake on eBay right now and I'm curious... From strictly a performance enhancing standpoint, with little regard for maintinance or bracing or the fact that most things D.I.Y. are a huge P.I.T.A. Should I place a few bids and hope for the best or is there at least as good as or better to be gained with a velocity stack/K&N and a Dremel? |

velocity stack is 10x cheaper..looks better...and is less stressful on the boot.

Chalk one up for the stack! Thank you for the quick response, and also for the pics as they reminded me of another concern of mine. Have you (or any others running a stack) had any problems with either your leg or your pant leg blocking airflow to the carb? I don't mind a riding jacket that fits snug but to heck with the current trends, tight pants bug the bejesus out of me. Needless to say, my belt guard/tire hugger will remain securely in place. |

I'd go with what you like the looks of. Depending on your height your leg/knee will block the airflow and even wear a hole quickly through the screen. In order of restriction: stock air box, stock airbox with K&N, Pro Series, stack. Thats also the order of engine protection (K&N and stock are probably the same). It should also be noted that you must use the new less restrictive screen (Outerwears). The old style is very restrictive and can put your airflow worse than stock. Other custom combinations can be had with all the filter set ups. I found no difference between an open ProSeries (sans filter), stack (no screen) and ProSeries with Uni filter. The testing was limited but gave me the data I needed. |

Hi Ima - does the velocity stack take the place of an air filter? What is the red screen that is covering the stack? |

lol that the old style stack filter - see my details for the new custom one - be prepared to pay 30 dollars for 1and 10 dollars more for each one extra ordered - so order 3 or more and your back to the regular price - lol - since I have 2 Blasts running the stack - I order 5 at a time - I always end up giving one or two away to friends for other stacks for racers I know. ...and no, the stack doesnt take the place of an air filter but will allow you to mount an air filter to it (or stack screen/'filter'). Note: Clearance is really tight. The ProSeries has an elbow to get the filter out of the way of your leg just as the "Hypercharger" pic (at top) above also has an elbow. Some filters will bolt right on, but you may hit your knee on it, depending on its and your size. K & N and UNI (and possibly others) sell a filter with an elbow built into it. Its going to take research to find what you want or will work or email someone who is using what you want. |

Hi all, I want to replace my intake system. Preferably, I want to remove the intake box altogether and only have the air filter as I like the "naked" look. Reading a bunch of posts leads me to believe that I should probably have the ProSeries air filter installed. Does it come with the elbow? And, it seems that I need to have it braced (springs) -although there is some debate on this point. With this mod I should have the carb rejetted to 45/175 (I have a V&H pipe). thanks!!!! thump thump thump |

yes the pro series would be the logical way to go but i looked for weeks and could not find one. a friend of mine seen one on ebay after i found some other options,i am currently fabricating my own from a 4" air cleaner and a piece of scrap 3.5" exhaust pipe.this will give the look i want i might have to brace a little, will post pics as soon as its done |

Someone Asked off line if I would post this here: Hi Ed, > I hope you don't mind me emailing you directly, but I have posted on > Badweather with no response - I guess everyone's out riding! > > I am a new Blaster - just bought my first bike a few weeks ago - a 2001, and > pretty much stock except for a Jardine pipe. > > The reason why I am writing is because I have poured over the badweather > forum, and I can't seem to find a straight answer on intakes. I think I have > read every post, but after looking at your bikes, I like what you have done > the best (the filters are inconspicuous, and don't look like they get in the > way). > Is there any chance you could tell me what you have done? If it's simple > (ordering a part and slapping it on simple!), I'd love to give it a go. Here you go! If you go to my intake - you'll at least have to go to 48/175 jetting, and it would be smart to shim the needle with 2 #4 washers. You buy the tall torque stack for M2s sold by American Sport Bike, a carb gasket and install as if installing stock carb small venturi, using a 3 1/2" hose clamp secure the Outerwears filter - you'll need a specific style of filter for air flow, see my profile for the stock number, replace the intake coupling with the Super Boot sold on EBAY - and your carb will be properly supported. quick question about intakes.... Most people get the curved aluminum pro series intake with the cone filter. Does anyone see any issues with the intakes linked below? WIth clearance or performance? or will they work just fine? 1) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BUELL-BLAST-CUSTOM- ALUMINUM-INTAKE-AIR-FILTER-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhash Zitem1c1c782889QQitemZ120736721033QQptZMotorcycles Q5fPartsQ5fAccessories and 2) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BUELL-BLAST-CUSTOM- ALUMINUM-INTAKE-SYSTEM-W-K-N-FILTER-_W0QQcmdZViewI temQQhashZitem1c1c869fb3QQitemZ120737669043QQptZMo torcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories |

The stacks are nice, however, those filters are too restrictive. Might not notice it on a stock exhaust, but you will on anything else. EZ |
