the front rotor on my m2 rusts every time it rains... it's just surface oxidation, but it covers the entire disk (and when i ride it throws rusty water all over the place). the rotor is brand new, but it also happened on the old one, so i'm beginning to wonder if this is "normal"... oddly enough, it doesn't happen to the rear, just the front. anyone else experience this? any ideas on how to fix it? |

Congratulations, you have one of the best rotors made...CAST IRON. Each, need it or not, time I ride the S-2 I drag the front brake (LIGHTLY with a cold tire) to take the layer off and then life is good. When you get home, wash the bike, the wheels and the rust dust. Then let the protective layer reform (if you paid for it, it would have been called Corten) until the next ride. <G> Court |

Court: Thanks for the info! I guess I don't need to "fix it"... I just need to learn to live with it. Captain: That would be nice... Too bad I live in San Francisco and don't own any other vehicle! On second thought, I'm glad I live in San Francisco, and I'm glad I don't own any other vehicle! So back to option #1: Learn to live with it. <GRIN> |

I took the S2 out one winter with salt dust on the roads. You should have seen the rotor the morning after. |

Gives the white front wheel a very nice orangish coloring though. Hmmmm, that isn't where they came up with the molten orange paint, is it? |

Ture enough.....good news is: 1) Stops like few bikes 2) Neat shade of Orange 3) Cleans up quite easily The development of MOLTEN ORANGE was one of the funnest Buell stories ever....remind me to tell you sometime.
