I have a question. I got a pedometer for Christmas and I put it on this morning before work (about 3am) and it says I've walked 19,473 steps and 6.76 miles so far. I haven't even gone for " a walk" this is just at work.This doesn't seem right. Does anyone else have one? |

On the pedometer, I have an electronic one, and it has to be calibrated. On mine, you had to set it up, walk a known distance, and then tell it how far you'd walked. Yours may just need to be calibrated. |

Re the pedometer..
Where did you have it positioned? On the belt on the front of the hip works best for me.
If it is also calculating mileage, Hugh said it above. You have to claculate your average stride then set the pedometer.
I do a lot of sitting at work, even I can have over 6000 steps by the end of the work day.
Most fitness folks say you should shoot for 10,000 or more per day. |

Bluzm2, I had Dave help me with setting it up. I walked 10 steps and figured the inches per step. I had it clipped to the waist of my scrubs. I'm on my feet from 2:15am til about 9pm and I stay moving. It just seemed like alot. |
