I tore down the top end on my 30,000 mile 2002 Blast today because the base gasket and rockerbox were weeping. While cleaning up the cylinder I noticed this:
The liner is seperated from the cylinder by about .004 over a 60 degree or so area. The liner also sits proud of the gasket surface by about .005-.007. I've bored about 50 pairs of Sportster cylinders for pistons and sleeves, and never seen this, but there's a first time for everything. I'm asuming that I should not run the cylinder as it is, so I'm going to re-sleeve the cylinder and fit a new standard Wiseco piston for a T-storm headed motor. James |
