Blake, Creation and evolution are not mutually exclusive. God was a suffiently ingenius and far-sighted Creator that He provided for the ability of species to adapt to a dynamic environment. I think the primary task of science is to discover the creative genius of God. Scientists have done that quite well over the centuries, and I therefore view science as one avenue by which God is glorified. I don't see scientists as the enemy. We have plenty already - no reason to invent more. |

Not to add fuel to the fire, but anyone interested in reading the book Blake mentioned re evolution vs. creation can read it in its entirety at <http://www.creationscience.com/>. Regardless of your stance it's a good read and sheds some rather interesting light on the debate. |

Blake, No disrespect to you. I had a copy of Brown's book and as a hydrogeology specialist. I could not make heads or tails of his claims. Page 336 is the most entertaining claim. He offers a fair debate. To this day, he has never accepted a challenge. There have been many. Meert has been trying to set up a debate with Brown for years. Brown has simply claimed that Meert doesn't meet his standard as stated on page 336. His challenge is oxymorinic in that creation is a theological topic. He says he's not a theologian. I'll accept that claim. He's not a scientist either. His claims are neither observable or replicable. His entire book must be taken on faith. His position is not subject to revision nor is it plausible. For example: "Over the centuries, the continental plates "sank" into the basalt below". There is no physical evidence for what he claims. The continental plates are still there and moving today, composed of basalt and floating upon the mantle (molten basalt). Californians experience this movement time to time as they live were two plates come together. Now, in certain areas where the plates meet, a continental plate does sink into the basalt. The plate returns to it's molten origin. Geologically we call that subduction. I overly simplified it, but that is but one striking example. The same natural laws that enable a Buell to work are all ignored in his hydroplate hypothesis. Science is not a belief system. Science is merely a tool for exploring the observable world. Scientist constantly test, observe, rethink, and test again their ideas. Once these ideas, hypothesi, having been tested repeatably and have not failed. They are elevated to the status of theory. The moment a hypothesis fails, a scientist throws it out and considers a new explantion. I hate ad hominem attacks. So I won't go there. I simply would ask you to consider this analogy. If you had a broken arm and needed surgery would you go to an orthopedic surgeon or a civil engineer? They are both trained in the sciences, but which one is competent to set a broken arm? I'm glad I found the site. I enjoy it and I think you've done a hell of a service for the Buell rider's that have been here. Thanks and Merry Christmas. |

Ara, Are you talking about adaptation or evolution? I agree with your statement though. It is just that anyone who claims that evolution is fact is well... not quite using the same definition of "fact" that I use. I have yet to see any convincing evidence showing how one species turned into another, like how all live on Earth evolved from single celled organisms. Cause that is the theory that a true evolutionist proposes is it not? In fact the true evolutionists hold that life happened by accident along with the rest of the universe. Talk about faith. Wow. |
