Its a Cafe dragster - no good in the corners - lol - of course if you raised the height, upgraded the suspension a bit - then you'd probably have something that equates to fun again - as it sits its good for straight lines - lol - pretty bike though! GT - JBOTDS! EZ  | ||

SR500 -- nicely cafed, bored out, Mikuni, alloy tank, 1/4 fairing, lots of things left to do, although perfectly ridable -- 80% of another as a parts department -- on the block -- lemme know if you're intersted | ||

Take a look at the Norton in Ray's post. Low bars, rear-sets, exhaust mods, single seat. The term came to define mods made to street bikes by English "Rockers" a few decades back. Modded bikes were ridden at high speed (d'oh) from cafe to cafe, hence "cafe racer". The cafes were what we might call diners that were located along the motorways. Popular cafes became legend. We have now exceeded the limits of my paltry knowledge on the subject. Anyone else care to expand/correct? | ||

Sorry for my ignorance on this, but what was so good about the cafe racer? I'm not a big fan of the jap ones but the euro ones are nice... What's the draw to these bikes for some? Would the XB's be a type of cafe racer? | ||

Cataract2: I've always thought it was more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow. I think that's one of the attractions of a 60's/70's era Cafe Racer. You can ride the thing flat out and not be in any real danger of killing yourself. "Fast" happens at WAY less than a "Ton-eighty." Geez, a guy could hurt himself falling off at 180mph but 110 seems so much more civilized. I suppose there's a testosterone difference between the two of us, but I think if most of us were honest we'd admit that our balls aren't as big as we would like others to believe anyway. | ||

I've always considered the modern streetfighter to be the sucessor of the old style cafe bikes - I happen to like both styles though and think they are complementary to each other. GT - JBOTDS! EZ (Message edited by ezblast on December 22, 2004) | ||
