Pronounced "Gloog", a Scandanavian thing. This helps make the relatives a bit more tolerable during the holiday season, might be the only thing that's kept me sane... 1 Bottle Dry Red Wine ½ cup (125 ml) inexpensive Brandy ½ cup (125 ml) your choice Sweet Liqueur (e.g. Black Current Cordial) 2 cups (500 ml) Apple Juice (or more to taste) 2 Tbsp. (30 ml) Raisins 2 Tbsp. (30 ml) Slivered Almonds 2 Tbsp. (30 ml) of Mulling Mix or 2 Sachets Simmer, covered, over low heat, for a minimum of 20 min., the wine, brandy, liqueur, apple juice, raisins, almonds and mulling spices. Do not boil. The longer the simmer time, the spicier the Glogg becomes. Experiment with the simmering time to best suit your taste. When spicy enough, remove the spices and serve hot. Serve with a slice of lemon or cinnamon stick. |

make sure to consume this beverage in a comfortable place, preferrably semi-reclining -- also know that you will be struck by a desire to steal others cattle and raid their religious structures -- the desire can be overcome, certainly, but generally by burniong something large don't ask me how I know -- it's a genetic thing |

Had my first glogg with some Scandinavian ironworking friends back in Chicago in the 70's. Definately follow Bombers suggestion and stay where you won't have to get up quickly. This stuff sneaks up on you fast and quietly. Enjoy. (Message edited by Bob_Thompson on December 20, 2004) |

Think I will stick with a nice Hendrik's gin Martini. Faster to make, tastes great and helps me forget everything and everyone quite quickly. You know: One Martini, Two Martini, Three Martini, FLOOR. |

No one else in my house likes that sort of thing so I pour a cheap bordeaux into a mug with brown sugar a squeeze of lemon juice & some cinnamon, then nuke it in the microwave for a minute, instant christmas spirit, yeah. |
