I grew up, er...spent my formative years in the snow belt midwest so I sure remember not being able to ride in the winters. With the topics being posted on badweb lately I am wondering if EVERYONE on the board can't ride and has cabin fever. Don't get me wrong, I will be reminded of 'the old days' when I am in East Troy for a week for Christmas - my Mom said it was 1°F when she woke up yesterday. Myself, yesterday I put somewhere between 150 and 200 miles on the S2 going on a toy run. Not my normal chosen activity (bunch of bikes riding slowly), but a co-worker that I got hooked on bikes asked me if I wanted to go. Couldn't turn down someone I got hooked, now could I? So, who out there is still riding? 1313 |

Yesterday was sunny and 82. Last WED was the same...got to ride up to North Shore during lunch and check out the BIG waves and bikini's. The down fall right now is... its hard to get into the Christmas spirit when its sunny and 82. Damn I love Hawaii. I would ride today but I am taking the kids to the beach. Rode around today, weather was beautiful. Unfortunately one of the guys had a tumble, since my house was the closest, and I have a truck. I got to take him home. So a fun but early end to my day. |

Took a little spin the other day, itching to get out right now. Wife has me busy unpacking boxes though. Rain, sleet, snow, no matter what, I'm gonna get a ride or two in this week. |

I ride every day the roads are dry, and the temp is above 15 F which is about 99.9% of the time here in central LA. |

It was -7 this morning in Minneapolis. I decided not to go for an early morning ride! I've been riding since 1992 and the only months I have never ridden in are December, January and February. Only 92 days until spring! |

I'm in CA so I don't count. Highs today here in the desert have plummeted down into the high 60's If I hadn't mashed my fingers in a bizarre trailer unloading accident, I'd be racing this weekend. Last month we raced in snow and rain - ON THE SAME LAP!!! - and on slicks |

i'm gonna hafta issue a prepared statement: i ride every day, year-round. nothing cool about it, just no choice. always have. my s2 loves snow. am driving w/better half, in her station wagon, to calif. this month, and will enjoy milder weather and snowlessness THIS winter, though! will miss icefishing with the S22 parked on the ice, real conversation-starter- only works with a sticky dusting of snow on the ise, though. powdery or no-snow makes it dang-near impossible to ride out there on the lake. best part is stopping by the tavern afterward, at night, and slinging the stringer of pickerel and crappies over the bike out in front. looks nutty in the snow. not this year, though!! |

Going riding right now. It`s about 70 degrees out. But I didn`t get in much riding this summer. Sunny FL seemed to be storm central. S1Eric |

Some people look at winter riding as an accomplishment, other do it because they have to. |

Some people have to ride all winter and look at it as an accomplishment. My philosophy has always been that I always have a motorcycle. If I can afford a car as well, then I have one. But if I can only afford one or the other, the bike stays. I've ridden in snow, on ice and in temperatures well below 0 F. I don't enjoy freezing my off, but sometimes you have to endure some unpleasantries in life. The best bike I found for riding on ice was my '78 FXE. |

The best bike I ever had for snow and ice riding was my KDX200 with 500 sheet metal screws twisted into the knobbies. |

Yesterday in the foothills of the Southern Sierra Nevada (CA). Can't claim that it was a hardship.

Just got back from a ride, and dont hate me for living in So. Cal until you do a real estate search and see what we pay for houses. If I was not so lucky I'd be living in a box with my Buell. Well, time to go cook the kids some Top Ramen and get them a glass of water for dinner... |

Cooling off here (Orlando) tonight but supposed to be back to 75 F on Wed. If so, I will be wakeboarding after work! I ride to work everyday unless it is raining. Frank |

I don't ride in the winter to prove I'm tough or anything or trying to accomplish something, i just like it. It is very invigorating and shakes off the winter blahs. besides with no other riders on the road I don't have to wave as much! LOL |

I took the '72 XLCH out for a ride today. Cruised the beach towns on the coast. (pic not from today, but it was clear and nice) I almost forgot how much fun this bike is to just putt around on. No complaining here, I just need to work less and get out more often for these kinda relaxing rides. Timbo |

BTW Tramp, I know what you mean. For two years, all I owned was a bike. I hated the rain and cold, often times getting to places soaking wet. Being sick, sneazing while riding, going to the laundry mat with a basket bungee corded to the back, grocery shopping, all kinds of fond memories. Did I mention I hated it. Granted I live in Southern California, but we still have our days. Swore when I got a car I would never ride in the rain again, and for the most part haven't. Last year though, I did get caught in a pretty heavy downpour coming home from the high desert about ninety miles from home. Not being dressed for it, it surprised me when I started thinking 'this isn't so bad'. I was more stressed about the traffic around me and their lack of adjusting for the conditions. Oh well, here's to hoping you have a mild winter. Timbo |
