Well after drooling over it for years I finally got my dream bike. I have wanted an X1 since I first saw it and recently got a 2K “Millennium” I purchased the X1 from a non HD/Buell dealer. They had taken it in as a trade with 1800 miles on it. My buddy is a salesman there and got me a screaming deal on it (2K under what they were asking) so I am very happy with it. I have a few questions about the bike I am hoping somebody can answer since I got it from a non-Buell dealer they didn’t know much about the bikes specs. First what exactly was the “millennium” model? I can see that the tail and wheels are polished was that it? The reason I ask this is along with my bike I got the original receipt owners manual and receipts for all parts and service performed. Now here’s the thing the owner kept all the receipts for some pretty trivial stuff. What I don’t have receipts for are the race cam, race ignition, race exhaust and thunderstorm heads all of which are installed (I don’t know for certain about the cam I haven’t looked) none of these things are on the original PO either. I do have the install instructions for all of these things and they are all in an envelope with Buell letterhead and none of the instructions looked as if they had ever been removed. I am wondering if all these things were factory installed. Is that what the “millennium” is…a factory tricked out X1? Or did I just get lucky? Second question the triangle pieces that the passenger pegs attach to are not on my X1 is this an option or did the previous owner remove them. Either way where might I find these parts? Last question, I want to get the bike repainted Duc monster asphalt black with silver racing stripes…where can I get replacement tank decals? Thanks DC1 |

Last question, I want to get the bike repainted Duc monster asphalt black with silver racing stripes…where can I get replacement tank decals? I can answer that one- your Local Buell dealer or one of our sponsors (try Dave). Pricey though. Sounds like a nice color scheme you have planned. Welcome to the Badweb, some wise gray haired Buellers will be here shortly to answer the questions about the history of your new girl. |

Welcome to the wonderful world of Buell!!! Be careful, it's been known to be an addiction. I have 3 Buells in my "stable". It's not uncommon to find owners with multiple Buells on this site. As for your bike.....if I'm not mistaken (which I'm not too often ), the motor in the Millenium was not any different than any other X1. The bike was a special color available only on that model. It also had billet footpegs, the little screens in the tail section and a limited edition gas cap. Other than that, it's the same as any other X1. Again..welcome and enjoy!! Dennis |

Dennis is mostly correct in his saying the Millenium X1 was just cosmetic. The Thunderstorm heads came stock. There is not special cams unless they were installed later. The bike came with a ceramic coated silver exhaust header. Do you still have it or was a full race kit installed? As for wanting to paint the bike. I highly recommend you buy some cheap X1 bodywork off of E-bay to paint since your bikes silver paintjob is what makes it a Millenium edition. All you need to buy is a tank cover, chin spoiler, front fender and flyscreen. I have a black tank cover I could sell you for $60 if you need one. chevydan1@hotmail.com |

Thanks for the input guys. Bad news is now I am really confused. My registration says its a Millenium other than that from what you guys have said and some other bikes I have seen online its not. It has black paint not silver and the pegs are the ugly rubber ones (any suggestions for that). The Silver ones that I looked at online had the ceramic exhaust which mine does not also the tail did not look like it was polished. Mine has the Chrome stock wheels (not PM) Chrome rockerbox covers, lifter tubes and the motor is all black including the case which looked like cast aluminum on the other Milleniums. Not complaining about any of this as the bike looks hot and had practically no use as well as a lot of upgrades. Just confused as to why my documents say its a Milenium...anybody know what the serial number were for them? DC1 |

Take Court up on his offer, no one can tell you with more "precisiousity" than Court can. Just from the sounds of it, it is doubtful that it is a millenium. While someone could have easily changed the bodywork (perhaps even taken the Millenium bodywork off to preserve it), I would think that it is less likely they would have painted the engine. As far as performance goes, all X1s came with T-Storm heads and Lightning cams. Enjoy it whatever it is, and do beware the addiction Lake Bueller describes. I have two myself, and that seems to be fewer than the average on this site. TJ |

Congrats on your purchase! I'm 2 years new to Buells (others here, definitely make 2 years a short time frame) and the affliction has not worn off yet; nor does it seem in any decline. Ride the snot out of her! |

Seems like the Millenium had a little plate on the right engine case that also said millenium edition or something to that effect? Also the ME bike had a silver frame and wheels. Lots of silver stuff on that bike. Too bad if someone spoiled it but oh well, gotta ride them anyway... Passenger peg brackets, aka triangle things are frequently taken off, probably just post a parts wanted ad if someone has not offered them already. -Mike |
