I love this thread. "Where do I fit in?" I wanna be different but it's so hard to find others like me to hang out with so we can point out how different the others are. Steve-O |

sounds like Beemer riders come in all shapes and sizes, just like the remainder of humanity -- if you wander round a local hangout, you may notice, as I do, that most BWMs have pretty decent milage on em -- say what you want, they ride! |

"WAIT!! ARE YOU SAYING THAT THERE ARE BMW OWNERS WHO ARE CRITICAL OF SERVICE THEY RECEIVE AT THEIR DEALERS...AND THEY EVEN DISCUSS MAINTENANCE ISSUES WITH EACH OTHER ON THE INTERNET?!!? Whew, glad that doesn't happen at Buell!" funny post, but the difference is that most (not just many, but MOST) owners of newer bmws swarm on their servicing dealerships as soon as they read an internet rumour, then they argue with the techs and service managers with an intonation of knowing more about bmw service than the techs/mgr.s do. then they bring 'em back time and again, complaining the problem's still there. ....not exactly what many guys on these buell sites do... i've logged in on both marque-sites and worked in service of both marques. the contrast is outrageous, believe me. "ooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhh my heated grips are discharging an emf that's giving me metacarpal demyelination... my mri SHOWS it! can't you reduce the emf with a fequency buffer from denmark? my doctor says you have to..." ...and so on... |

Geography here is as flat as my GF in 6th grade. Dang hard to find any curves in SW FL (read Everglades) as well. Seems every road is straighter than Ritchie Cunningham. Anyhoo, that pic is 'round the corner from Deal's Gap think it was called Cades Cove, Great Smoky Mountains. After getting the Buell I'm ready to sell the homestead and move to a neighborhood with hills and such. Steve-O |

"you can always tell the individualists, they all look alike." I would have to agree with that statement, Tramp. From the H-D/Cruiser world of HOG to the Angels with the leather bad lure image; The Beemers to their unitraian motorcycle survival look; The Sport riders with their multi-colored leathers to the Street Stunt riders with $600 helmets, tank tops, and baggy jeans - The individualists stand out.........don't they? I guess the best was not to be lumped into any clone type, perhaps I should wear tiger print leotards with a L.L.Bean faux leather coat (in safety red, of course).

Yep sure looks like Cades cove, there is a back road that will lead you directly onto the dragon from there without having to go back up thru the parkway. Will save 30 minutes easy. |

>>>I think the Harley riders at work are hoping I crash so they can gloat! Shame on them. I think we think too much. What would you think of a person who commuted, in New York City, on a XB9Cs through the winter? Generalizations, for the most part, lead to broad sweeping and useless conclusions, in the majority of cases. Court |

BMW Boxer engines sound like evil sewing machines. How's that for a sweeping generalization? |

"speaking of which, gomo-arrigato, are you still w/woodstock? good brother of mine purchased his scoot there about 2 years ago. he had good experiences with the dealership" Yes - as a BRAG Director and a member of their HOG Club (though things there a getting too much like a bad Martha Stewart episode - may not last much longer). The Dealership and it's people (owners included) are all great folks and are always friendly. The service dept. has mixed reviews, (from myself included) but they do what they can to please the customer. Like I said the folks at the dealership are great, and the dealership itself puts on some good events through out the year, as well as sponsor other events in the area. They are one of the sponsors for the Pre-Daytona Boogie Bike show in Kingston every Feb.. If you go there, look for me there; I'll be the only BRAG person in the dealership area. http://mysite.verizon.net/res94lu0/hudsonvalleyridersclub/ |

mixed reviews of HD service departments are the order of the day, and don't reflect nearly so poorly on the service dep't.s themselves. most motorcycle dealer service departments get mixed reviews, at best, both the good and the bad |

Have them both, 1998 Buell S1WL and 1999 BMW K1200LT. I belong to the BWM and HOG group and ride with any group that will put up with me, no other Buells to ride with. I agree thet the BMW and Triumph riders dress for safety much better that the HOG riders. Love the warm electrics use them on all of my bikes. It gets cool here in Nebraska in the winter. |
