I've order the service manual and hopefully it is coming... but not in time for this weekend. My rear tire NEEDS to be replace. Belt starting to show. How do you take out the rear wheel? First off, do I loosen the tensioner (small wheel by the exhaust) by the three bolts? How do I do that? Do I take out the caliper afterward? Do I then just loosen the allen bolt on the bottom of the swing arm on the right side. Then do I just use the adaptor that is in the tool kit and loosen the wheel? How do I re-set the tension when putting back the wheel on? Also, when taking the wheel in for having tire change, do you guys take out the sprocket? On my F4i, it was recommanded to have to sprocket off when you take your wheel in. What is the size of the Torx bolt for the sprocket? Thank you in advance for the help. |

I wish I could help but as I still havn't been able to get an XB (grrrr) I don't know but I can give you this advice: Buy the shop manual. It's one of the best investments you can make. When/if I get an XB I am most definitely getting one the very same day as the bike. Not only does it tell you how to do the things you need to do, it also tells you how much torque to apply and I'd imagine torque sequences where needed. I hope this helps and please don't think me a smart . That's not my intent, I'm just giving what help I can. I know it's very little but at least I'm trying. |

Step one, raise the rear wheel off the ground step two,remove caliper from swingarm, do not push on brake lever with caliper removed Step three, loosen the pinch bolt on underside of swingarm,below the nut end of axle. step four, loosen rear axle aprox 15 turns to allow the tension of the belt to loosen up Step five, remove idler pulley Step six, remove rear axle Step seven, remove wheel, be careful to not twist or bend the belt! To re-install Center the wheel in the swingarm while carefully putting belt on pulley. With the wheel centered in the swingarm, lower the bike until the swingarm axle hole and hub align Apply anti seize to the right side axle hole where the axle slides thru Apply anti seize to both ends of axle Slide axle thru swingarm and wheel and partially tighten Install idler pulley tighten bolts to 33-35 ft lbs Tighten rear axle to 23-27 ft lbs, then loosen two full turns and retighten to 48-52 ft lbs Tighten pinch bolt to 40-45 ft lbs Re-install caliper and tighten bolts to 24-26 ft lbs Hope this helps! Wow, Dave. Thank you very much. I just went and bought the manual and got the Buell Tech to come out to speak to me as well. He walked me through the steps as you've described here. Big thank you. While I'm at it, I will take out the two pieces of belt guards on the right side. Too much black back there. |

Oh, yeah, those are good people. Fremont, CA is where the dealer is. That guy actually was in the middle of a dyno run and got pulled out of the dyno room and take 15 min. to show me all that. |
