You have our complete & undivided attention! We'll keep our eyes open for what you need. Engines and salvage bikes come up on ebay on a regular basis usually going for between $600-$1000. Could you also use an XB engine with the rear cylinder blocked off? | ||

WEll... When I bored out the XB racebike to 1164, I kept the old heads and jugs so could bolt that stuff to a Blast motor with probably less effort than trying to modify another XB motor. I can see if Buell Racing has any Blast motors with fried top ends. Send the XB top end to Hals or Aaron for re-work. Have to check the rules in a couple race classes and clubs to see what the different class restrictions are. Because I have a non-stock motor/frame combo, it might put me in the open singles category in most organizations - even at 500cc - so I may as well make it as big as I can. Meanwhile this week the ebay search and phone calls start. This'll be a project with no deadline (the 2 other racebikes absorb all my spare money right now) | ||

Well... except for the tie-in from the front cylinder to the rear and up into the frame, it's not all that too bad a project but not a bolt-in. There is normally a yoke tying the front to rear cylinder in the XB which at it's top ties into the chassis with a link. That's a big thing to fabricate. | ||

Here's a couple photos of Candice and I on the Bartells Blast. Let me tell you the thing HAULS ••• and handles inexplicably well. I was pulling the XB's in the corners and would lose them on the straight. I didn't want to ride my bike anymore. The next project is this setup, but in a stock blast frame. Yeah... after talking to Matty I really did some thinking about tossing a Blast motor into my XB leftovers. Called Duga today at Buell Racing - and except that one funny bracket I'd have to fabricate, it'd be a fun project. | ||

Cmon Ez, it's a race bike. It doesn't stand still!!! =) It's a blast motor in a S1 Chassis and it freakin rocks. It feels 200 pounds lighter than it's twin cylindered brothers! | ||

The M2 has the Buell bellypan, the Blast has one from a fairing that we found in the garbage at the track. A little cutting and painting and all is well. If you can find something to play with and chop up, you more than likely can figure out a way to mount one on your bike! | ||

Mmelvis - we have a totally crappy mold taken off a burned up plastic bellypan that we have fabricated a half dozen pieces out of. If you promise to tell nobody where you got it, I can build you one. CAUTION - it's gonna be ugly until you sand/fill/paint it. | ||

Thanks Matty and Slaughter. I have burned up about 4 plastic belly pan. I have tried do some metal fabrication, thing weighs as much as a stock muffler. So Slaughter, how much to fab one up. I can fill and paint with no problem. | ||

Matty - I notice the underseat exhaust - is that a 4" Supertrapp, how long is the header, did you all design it simular to the flattracker XR exhausts? What mounting points did you use? GT - JBOTDS! EZ | ||

Hrmm.. and you still melt the pans? I'd say line the things with some of that aluminized heat wrap stuff or firewall insulation. That should help a lot in preventing a meltdown on the Slaughter special. The pipe was cobbled together from old broken stock tuber pipes and has 2 mounting points - 1 at the head and 1 at the muffler. As far as length and such, I have no idea but I'll get some details next time I'm down there. | ||

Matty thanks, I just switched to the Jardine pipe, the Vance and Hines was the pipe doing all the melting. I am hoping the Jardine will not do the same thing. I will look into the insulation and the heat wrap. The pans I had been using were the abs plastic. Really got tired of scraping that stuff off the can. Have a great day | ||

It's too quiet here! I'll try posting some pics of what I've been doing over the last couple days. The idea is to get a Blast race bike going for less than $1000 - including purchasing the bike. Can it done? We'll find out! To start, I nabbed a Blast for $200, so we're off to a good start.   The frame is really tweaked and will take a bit of work to straighten up, but it can be done - it's just a question of money. It may be cheaper to get another frame. Stay tuned on that. The head and cases took a beating as well. The front motor mounts broke out of the head and the front tie rod mount pulled off the case. A race head and piston/cylinder are ready and waiting to go. The case repairs aren't a problem After a couple hours of cleaning and tearing the bike down, things didn't look too bad at all. This is going to be a fun project! The motor is going to Bartels for inspection while I get the chassis all figured out. I stuck an M2 front end on for now, just for convenience. Looks good though! | ||

This is going to be a seriously fast and seriously fun Blast! I have a few of goals to achieve with this project: 1. Build this thing for less than a grand 2. Make some naysayers eat crow =) 3. Get more Blast owners to come out of the woodwork and get to the track for track days and/or racing! I'm starting from scratch here, so all the folks who already have a bike are 90% there!    | ||
