Got home from work last night and the wife said I had a message on the answering machine that I really needed to listen to. O.K. So I do and it's a message from a gentleman wanting to ask me a few questions about Buells. He had seen a letter to the editor I had written to Cycle World concerning their opinion of the XB they tested in the World's Best Street Bike comparo they did a couple of months back. Thought it was cool and kind of amazing that the guy took the effort to seek me out over just a few sentences in a magazine. Had a good conversation and I hope I gave him what he was looking for, as it will mean that another person will catch our happy disease and another Buell makes it's way on to the road. |

Dave, Ah, that explains why you didn't call me last night... Keep spreading the word about Buell's as the more popular the newer Buell's become the more unique the tube-framed Buell's will become (a definite plus for me as I really don't like to blend in). We still on for a good day of riding tomorrow? We can also take some pictures of your XB9S so that you can have a picture with yout posts, too (Come on man, everyones doing it...). Damn weather today, I guess when they say 20% chance of rain down here they mean that 20% of the region will see 100% rain... 1313 |

Possible you can post up the letter on here for those of us who didn't get to read it? Also, did the editor respond to it? |

Only too happy to oblige. Here it is as it appears in the Dec. 2004 issue: "You gave Buell's XB12S short shrift in the streetbike comparo. The Lightning not comfortable? Does CW only hire former basketball players? My Lightning, an '03 Low, is the most comfortable, best handling motorcycle I've ever ridden. I regularly log 300 to 500 mile days on mine and I never have a problem. The are faster, more powerful bikes, but I can attest, there isn't a streetbike built right now that's more fun to ride than the XB. It should be on everyone's short list." No comments from the staff, but hey, what could they rebut with, it's just an opinion. Brank, we talked last night, I think, right? If the fog will lift, I'd be happier. I thought the picture taking was for your benefit. |
