Guys...i have just taken possession of a race ECM and K&N filter(thanks JohnK3)however the race pipe which I have coming is taking an age to arrive. I am getting kind of impatient and my question is...can I fit the ECM and filter and run them with the standard pipe(until the race one arrives)and if so what affect will it have on the running? Oh, and also will I require a TPS reset with he standard or race pipes? Cheers in advance |

New ECM will require TPS reset, but installing the ECM without the pipe is pretty pointless as far as I know. |

It is also harmless though, you will pick up around 1 to 3 horsepower depending on RPM. I posted before and after dynos for my 9sx with just airbox mods and the before and after race ECM. You need a tps reset for the race ECM, but not when you change exhaust. Thats what I did, I am hunting an exhaust, but already put in the race ECM and got my TPS reset. The exhaust is now just a bolt on affair when I pick one. |

If nothing else the bike will run cooler because of the richer mixture. |

I've asked this question on another forum and it doesn't seem like anyone really knows. What exactly does the race ECM do? Change the fuel map and timing in different RPM range, that's it? |
