Dear friends: Tom Anglim, who has building Buell since time began and is one of the better test riders I've known, answered the call when the stuff broke out and requested he be placed on active duty. Tom and his UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS unit have been away from their base camp for several weeks and have been involved in some action. We need to help....Tom and his fellow MARINES need:
- M&M's
- Magazines (motorcycle, car, hunting, fishing, etc)
- MAIL - preferably with a picture of your Buell and a Thank You card
I am not going to post his address on the internet. Send an e-mail marked "I wanna send crap to Tom Anglim" to me at courtmail@gmail.com and I'll fire back the address. I'm thinking just how cool it would be if Tom's fellow UNITED STATES MARINES knew he had a couple thousand folks at home cheering...Ohhhhrah! Thanks in advance, Court |

I've got a dumb question. A couple of my guys donated some skin magazines. Is that allowed by our military to go to a moslem country? |

Jersey: Good question, wanna bring'em over to Gotham and I'll screen'em? Seriously, I thought of the same thing and am not going to for the first round of sending. I'm sure they'd get through, but am more worried about some poor 19 year old PFC leaving on stuffed in his rucksack and getting in trouble. My take is that I'd not for this round. I went out and bought 4 bags of M&M's last night and am tossing in all the cycle mags that have arrived the last couple weeks. The response, by the way, has been overwhelming and I can't wait to hear the tail TA tells when he returns about having 100+ bags of M&M's arriving in the desert. I'm hoping our BUELL rep in the war will be able to barter about anything he wants. Most of all....THANK YOU. Court |

My guys stepped up & gave a bunch of hunting, shooting, motorcycle and Playboys. I've got a big box going out today. Its been a very long time since I was 19, but still remember the mags I wanted to look at. Court - Do you think the candy will make it ok? I mean without freezing or melting along the way? |

>>>Do you think the candy will make it ok? I mean without freezing or melting along the way? It should. If not, the thought will and, recalling the mail I used to get in boot camp, that'll mean more than the candy. Thank you |

It will be edible no matter how it gets there. Fresh would just be a bonus. I'm trying to find Harley M&Ms (sometimes marketed as "Halloween" M&Ms) |

Hey, I can't figure out how to ship this UPS. The UPS software doesn't buy the FPO number. Doesn't UPS deliver to the troops? |

I think you need to send it US Postal. I'm headed to the post office in a few minutes to mail my box of crap. Dave |

Be interesting to see who gets these 5,100# of M&M's....I just spoke to East Troy and learned that our dear friend, while out on patrol, has to carry all *his* stuff. I can see it now...Peace imminent after small USMC LCpl wins hearts of 17,000 Iraq children. Thank you all for answering the call... Court |

Okay...but I'd suggest, absent a request from TA, that folks use good judgement. If you knew the role he plays in the development of new Buells, you'd understand that we NEED this guy back soon and in tip-top condition. I, for one, am a little miffed as to who deemed national security a superior concern over my next Buell! Court By the way...THANK YOU to everyone who has helped. They had an "adopt a soldier" deal in church this morning and I giggled under my breath knowing full well that the good people in the world of Buell had let Tommy know we're thinking of him and wish him home soon and safe. |

Mags on the way as of last week. The lady at the post office warned me "no Playboys"........ oops. If they get culled out somewhere, I hope the hunting and motorcycle mags get through. |

Court - It is my pleasure to do anything I can to help our troops. On another subject, when we get our BRAG chapter set up, you will have to come out for a ride. |

Blu: I KNOW what you mean....I bought 4 large bags...all were in the box. Then a voice said...."what's he gonna do with 8# of M&M's...6# would do nicely. Then I needed a smaller box. Then next smaller box was just shy of accomadating 3 - 2# bags so I had to *loose* one more. You can fill in the rest of the blanks. If Tom starves well...damnit, I tried! Court |

Good question...I keep watching CNN for a candy littered battlefield. We'll hear someday...for now, while deployed out of base camp on house to house ops, I don't want him doing anything but his job. TA will give us the thumbs up when he can. But....regardless...thanks to all for a wonderful thing. Court |

C E A S E F I R E !! Just got this:
quote:Hi Everyone - I have great news - I got to talk to Tom on Monday and Tuesday for a few minutes each day. He said "Happy Holidays" to everyone and "Thank you" for all the packages, cards and letters he has been receiving. The big news is he is doing fine and he received a promotion to Corporal. Ya, Ya, Ya!!! He sounds good. Please change his shipping address to the following: CPL Anglim Besides that he got cold turkey and ham on Christmas Eve (still better than MREs). He did ask that we not send any packages over for awhile. He got allot of things at once and now needs to thin things out. Cards and letters would still be great!!
Let change ammo and go with "CONGRATULATIONS cards to our new CORPORAL for a bit..... Thank you to all who are writing...it is very much appreciated. Court |
