Hi, my name is Steve... I am a Buell Addict, and this is our story. ------------------------------------------------------ It started simply, oh so innocent, it was just a 2000 Buell Blast. $1899 with 3K on it. So Harmless, right? I knew I could stop at any time. So May 2004, we started this addiction! But when the Burgandy S3T came up, I knew I had to have it, and that was it, that's ALL our 10x12 shed could handle. Sold my 1979 Sportster, and bought the S3T for $4250, with 9,500mi on it. Race kitted and all... All was good, the addiction was satisfied. That is, until another S3T reared it's head on ebay, with a $3200 buy it now, with 6K on the clock. OH GOD WHY!!! WHY are they tempting us! We had to have it, so a trip up to baraboo, and $3200 parted our hands, and rode home a nice black '98 S3T. Okay i said, that's IT! We can stop now. With support from friends and family, we figured, just 3 Buells, that's GOOD ENOUGH. But NOOOO!! Some dirty bastages placed a 2003 XB9R up on ebay, with yet another $3200 buy it now. This time, the bike was a salvage job, but looked to be an easy fix. So a 30 hour road trip down to Alabama and back, and a $150 in parts, we had another addition to the addiction. CURSE YOU EBAY!!! We figured, yup, that's all we *REALLY* need. But NOOO! Up comes a post from RacerX1(Wes), selling an S1, and an X1 race bike combo. We HAD to have bikes for track days, right? Wouldn't want to screw up our perfectly good street bikes for that. Or so we convinced ourselves... This is IT! I Promised myself... I'll not mention the gorgeous '00 X1 I looked at, and longed for at Uke's on the way home from bringing the race bikes home. I really hope this shows the new Buellers, that possible addiction buying your first Buell can cause. Stay tuned for the on-going sequel to "The Buell Addiction"

Oh... you got it bad dude. Soon you'll be converting the house to keep them and moving yourself into the garage. I've been able to stop at just two... For now... I hope .... |

LOL - and so the Dark side prevails! I constantly worry about my own addiction - this next year I'll be looking to get an XB as well, and I've always had my eyes on S1W's also! Yeah - the Blast is a pathway drug to hardcore Buell addiction - lol GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

bads, Haven't started the winterizing yet. Just gonna use dino oil for winter storage. Insurance wise, We've only got liability on 4 of 'em. The race bikes obviously will never be ridden on the stree, so no insurance. The other 4 bikes cost me like $600 a year. |

well see my dream stack of bikes would be an s1w with the vr body work(i think those look cool), a blast made into a street version flat tracker, a s2 built for drag racing, and lastly but most importanly the 05 xb9r that i should have when i get back from iraq. (but i still miss my 03 firebolt) |

Yeah, the Blast was also my "gateway" drug to the XB9S. But there are times I wish I had kept the thumper. That 492cc motor provides a lot more fun than many Buellers realize. Prof |

FiremanJim I think they mean switch the gas in our California bikes to the winter blends- I cant imagine anything else we would have to do just because the months change? |

I dont winterize my bikes since I ride year round. Oh sure I wont be riding when the snow is 2' deep on the streets but once the sun comes out & the streets are clear im riding again. I get out a few days every single month. Not sure if im ever going to do that 7 degree jan 1st ride again though, I can still feel the chill in my body after 4 years. Course that may have something to do with the fact that I rode down to the lake for the annual polar bear dip, jumped in & then had to ride home. I had warm clothes waiting for me in a van at the lake but that chill stays with you for a long long time. |

That Right Dyna, Why winterize when there is always the odd chance you can ride.....even if its only around the block.!!!!! |

Great Story Steve, I want to thank you for recommending this site to me (I met you the day you looked at that X1)and I too think I am on my way to a Buell addiction. I just purchased a 1998 S3T and am becoming obsessed with it!! On the Badweb, on e-bay checking out go fast parts for it, and the worse part, I am now looking for a S2 for a springtime purchase. I don't think that will be able to match the 6 bike fleet that you have but, if I could get half way there....... |

Jungletym, I'm glad I could be of service. Does this mean, you'll give me a *REALLY* good deal on that X1 after the holidays? Also, regarding your S3T, I'll keep you informed to when I start producing the "hefty bag" saddle bags. I'm hoping to someday soon getting a part print, and/or 3D model of the exsisting S3 saddle bags, so I can make a heftier bag for the S3Ts |

Unfortunately I started early, with the money I paid for the 2 Buells I bought 7 and 8 years ago I could buy half a dozen off ebay now. Fortunately, I didn't buy them as investments. Now I am buying parts and accessories so I can keep having fun modifying and riding (both are side effects of the Buell addiction). |
