AHHHHHH over time is finally OVER!!!!!!! Hey Denney, I just got my front pegs in with the correct pins and springs, now all i need is rear sets to finish it off. Got the new front screen in smoke and started polishing the plastic last night, whew! what a chore. Any way thanks for a while back of helping me out. If anyone in the MOB reads this, I just would like to apologize for the negetive energy I put into the club lately!! I am trying to be more involved as much as possible, it just seems my work and personal schedule lately has been hell!! About Gails: I really feel that if you don't work for someone you can't screw em right? So if at least we can't better our morals of getting along, lets team up as a club and ride "her" out for what its worth--no pun intended! Sam, you sure been silent latley?? Brewing another little Sammy??? Hey if the weather get's nice some night, I'll drop in, so let me know what your schedule is. |

Bill, you wont support price gouging? When you bid on a job, dont you try to make as much profit as you can and still get the job?Thats the American way, sell high, buy low.How many of you have bought or sold ANYTHING on Ebay? You try and get as much as you can selling, and buy as cheap as you can.Didnt Topeka want 1000 over list of the Vrod you were in line for?As long as people are willing to pay more for any product, prices will stay high, call it gouging if you want.By the way,the last time I went to Topeka, this summer,as far a Buell involvement, they sucked! No Buell apparrel,no accessories, very, very few,if any parts, but the were selling bikes at list........la di friggin da.As far as you guys being SKEPTICAL,Im glad to know who see's the glass as half empty, instead of half full. |

Still plenty of Buell and ICON gear available for 20% off at Central. I keep picking up things and hope the wife does'nt notice. I do not have an addiction. I am merely a Buellaholic. |

Scenes from KC's new Buell dealer. NINE Buells in a line. And another in the lobby. And Buell clothing! The new Battle Thrust Blue 12R. I like it better than I thought I would. In fact it has become my favorite color. (Though I have'nt seen the yellow 9R yet.) (Message edited by tripper on November 21, 2004) |

Who mentioned price gouging? I thought I heard a dealer employee mention the D word ("Deals". Topeka has not carried a Buell T-shirt for at least 3 years. They still have the best BBQ for an 60 mile radius. ?????? You all got gas tonight? Go ride. Meet me Sunday, I'll be on Charles' 9. |

Work schedule got in the way again and I had to miss the meeting at Casa Hernandez, sure wish I could have made it. I hope it went well. I went out to Gails on Wed just before noon for a few minutes, talked to the service writer DW Rooks about Buell service, I may give them a chance to put on new tires and brakes this winter and give the X1W a good checkup. I will have to wait until after I pay Missouri personal property tax and my next years insurance premium first. |

Let me say this about all of that… First, today I went to Central Harley-Davidson and now they have one less Buell garage jacket in their inventory. If it wasn't for the fact that the Jackson County tax assessor, has some stupid idea that I need to give them money on vehicles that I paid taxes on when I bought the damn things, I would've bought more Buell stuff. About price gouging. Price gouging is when a business charges more than other businesses charge for the same thing. Profiteering… profiteering is when a business sees a shortage of an item and takes advantage of the want or need of that item and charges excessively above what that item would normally sell for. For example, during the hurricanes in Florida, charging $10 for a bottle of water that normally sells for one dollar, because it is buy here at MY price, or do without it. Now that they are the ONLY Buell dealer in this area… this does not make me think the change will be for the best. Let's remember back to when this Middle Eastern war started, and there was a scare about gasoline shortages, and some gas stations started charging six dollars a gallon, because of the panic buying. The federal government was not amused. Just as when I go to buy something, and it's not in stock, I would not be amused, if I was told, since I had to wait for it, and since I wanted it, I would have to pay the price they want to charge for it. If Bill bids a job, he should expect to make a reasonable profit. If Bill were to charge an excessive amount above what others would charge for the same service. I really doubt that the bid would be accepted, or that Bill would be in business long. I also doubt that if we were in the middle of a heat wave and someone's air-conditioning went out, that Bill would charge thousands more, because they needed that equipment. Because a customer was affected by the excessive heat, and really wanted the repair. That would be an unscrupulous business practice, profiteering off someone's need. I can't imagine that Bill would stay in business if he did jobs above the market, or excessively charged when a cooling emergency was problematic for client. That is a poor business practice, (even if there were hotdogs and hamburgers offered on a Saturday) and it chases off customers, which is exactly what we're talking about here, and what I think Bill was talking about. Let me beat a dead horse. When I went to buy my XB, the purchase price was going to be 15% above the other dealers in the area. That was enough to chase me off even if there were hot dogs and hamburgers on Saturdays. $1500 would buy a lot of hot dogs and hamburgers. That is why I went to a different dealer. I think a big part of the problem here is that our sponsoring dealership has made a bad first impression on many of us. I have read that at the meeting, the D word was used. Giving the impression that for the club deals would be made. My question is, in whose opinion would it be a deal? Would be their opinion, or would be our opinion.? Would a deal be the movement down from MSRP? Or would a deal be the movement down towards the MSRP? If the set price is above MSRP like it has been in the past, it is not a deal if it is still more any other dealers charge. I hope we will get a better impression as time passes, but I'm skeptical that it will happen. I will not bend over a desk to show club sponsorship loyalty when I make a purchase. My biggest worry about the sponsorship. Is that Buell events will be no more than us being invited to HOG events. I didn't buy a Harley-Davidson, I'm not interested in attending HOG events, and having someone try to convince me that it is a Buell event, and it is in fact, a HOG event. If this is actually no more than us being merged with their HOG chapter, and the only show in town buy at what they want to charge... nothing has changed to make a good impression, or to change a bad impression. I will stop now before I am banned from entering the place! Loyalty is earned… not demanded or bought!!! Earn our loyalty!!! And to respond to what I fully expect is coming next...

Price gouging is when a business charges more than other businesses charge for the same thing. Profiteering… profiteering is when a business sees a shortage of an item and takes advantage of the want or need of that item and charges excessively above what that item would normally sell for....??Who determines what a business should charge for something, are you talking about MSRP?If you bought a 10 OZ.steak at Ponderosa,or a 10 oz. steak at THE Herford House, its still only a 10 Oz.steak, but a HUGE price difference.Do you know how many Dodge Vipers or Prowlers are made each year? Not near enough, for the numbers who want them,so........you pay way above MSRP to Drive away in one!So I guess something should be done to Chrysler for profiteering,or any business that sells anything limited in quantity, for more than a suggested price. The bottom line is,its YOUR MONEY,spend it where you think you get the best deal for YOUR MONEY!If I am looking for a particular part for my bike, and I find the best deals in Tacoma Washington,I will get my part there!Thats the only thing I,as a consumer can do to be dollar wise.If the prices of any product are out of line, and consumers wont pay the prices asked, they will drop.......PERIOD!But as long a HD,Chrysler,Ferrari..ect...have people willing to pay whatever it takes to get a certain product......the prices will NEVER go down.Who determines a REASONABLE PROFIT?.Im thinking if I was in business,I would want to try to make as much as I could for a given job and still be competative. If I could'nt get work because my REASONABLE PROFIT was too much,I would have to lower it to get the work.It does'nt matter WHAT BUSINESS you're in,there is ALWAYS somebody, willing to do the job or sell something cheaper for alittle less REASONABLE PROFIT. |

I wonder if Buell (or realy HD since they own Buell) thinks they can create a shortage or limited availability and mark the Buells up like they do the Harleys? If they think this they are making a big mistake, the popularity of the Buell is not that great as of yet, it has less power and so less popular that the other sport bikes. It has not won the races and proven its self like the other bikes, if this attempt at limiting availabity flops how many of the dealers that lost the buell brand will be willing to give it a second shot after bieng hung out to dry the first time. They are taking a giant risk doing this because the only recourse will be to drasticly lower prices to sell the bikes at any quanity. I am going to step out an a limb and predict this is the beginig of the end for Buell, yep I said it here first I did say it and I truely think this act will be the one that kills Buell Motorcycle unless the also make major steps to keep pricing at list and negotable below list like every other brand of sport bike on the market. Yes Buell riders are generally a different breed kind of a cross of a Harley rider and a sport bike rider and they demand to be treated like any other sport bike rider when paying for a bike but want all of the Buell logo stuff like the harly rider has. Another consideration is how much less likely is someone going to want a Buell when they only have a few places in the country to get parts and service for it. Another reason I see this a flop for Buell, I am looking for a New touring bike and the number one thing I looked at was service locations and how fast could I get parts. Hey just my thoughts on this controversy. |

John and I feel your pain guys...We know what it is like to have your sponsoring dealer go poof...And I, kind of, think I know where this will end for you... We were very lucky with our original dealer in that they also sold a whole bunch of GSX-R's and were very familiar with the sport bike mind set...When we had to move to a new dealer that was all Harley, all the time, it became very apparent that we would be treated like a step child...That's why we're no longer a BRAG club... Good Luck, Bob |

Went to Gail's and all I wanted was a set of plugs.. No 6R12s if your thinkin of stockin up!! I guess they haven't goten the bare minimum parts stock up yet!! I do have one question. The last dealer that did work on my bike put 10R12s in it.. Why do you think that is and what is the difference between the two?? |

ohforgodssake.... \RANT MODE: ON BRAG events... and how many BRAG events has our previous sponsor been involved in? Have you noticed the HOG sign in their lobby? Pretty damn active on that. The sale price of Buell motorcycles: Put your dictionaries back on the shelf. Why don't you just walk up to one of the 10 buells on the dealer floor and ask HOW MUCH. Me thinks some of you worry too much. Iv'e said this to many of you privately: Sponsoring a BRAG group is one task. They are extremely energetic in there efforts so far. Grade: A friggin plus. Selling and supporting Buell motorcycles: a seperate task, jury will remain sequestered for a year or so on that. Don't confuse the two distinct issues by blending them together. Treat them seperately and at the proper moments. Iv'e already told them that Topeka has earned great loyalty in sales, service and parts and they have an UPHILL MAJOR effort to meet that standard. In reply the staff at Gail's HD/Buell has said "YES, we know. Please teach us." Cue the smart ones. Go teach em. Please, just cool your jets cause things are happening in the background already. It is going to be a fun year, if you don't off each other and our new sponsor. OK Cobb, since you poisoned the well here, are you going to tell the viewing audiance about your meeting with the Gail's leadership today? I think they need to hear your thoughts that you called me about today. \RANT MODE: OFF Hey, I got my pipe and a few parts from Topeka today. I sound better than ever! Who's riding Sunday? I'll see ya at Central HD at 1pm. DaveT p.s. Topeka has Buell Tshirts. I apologized to them and even bought one. a cheap one. |

Ok I will say this. Rich will be crying the loudest of all. Moron! Don't encourage him, you all know what comes out of his mouth usually requires him removing is foot later. He means well he just can't tactfully put the right words together. And he would do about any thing for any of us. So I move on. I had no intentions of poisoning the water. Just honest concern. We have all had conversations about over priced bikes, which confuses me because Rich has made conflicting statements about this. I have to chalk it up to, thats what he does. You honestly have to ignore him to get along with him. I had a good visit with Key members of the store. Gail, Don, and Rodger. They feel that they finally do have the kind of space they need to have more of these bikes than before. I understand that. I understand that if you can sell 15 big twins over one Buell well maybe I need big twins. I don't like it but thats business. It's a work in progress. As Dave said we take it as it goes or comes. I can honestly say there is more enthusiasm than I ever saw from the front office at Central. It really seems to be ernest. I have known many of those people for years. I have decided to help educate them as much as I can. Rodger said Gail asked what his impression and ernest feeling was from the group meeting. He replied that these guys are not like the hog group. He felt like he was at a tech meeting. That these guys are real passionate enthusiast. He hadn't seen any thing like it. He was excited. He understands we are nothing like the Hog group. I felt I needed to talk with them because I don't know about you guys but my mind gets cluttered with crap from the past and I want to move forward. I can complain about every dealer from Topeka to Blue Springs. None have been perfect and never will be. I have seen them all change from good to not so good. It seems the dealers that finally get it figured out are still lacking in some way. No support from the top or the shop can't get it together, some key person leaves that made a difference. I am chosen to go forward put some things on the shelf and see what comes of it. I am going to help make a difference. Yes I am skeptical but thats setting on the shelf. I am excited at the prospects that lie a head. The new friendships to come to the Buelling community. GEEZZZZ! It's passion that makes us all crazy! It's just a friggin motor cycle. YEA and it's our passion to ride this one. I ask for every one to take a step forward. WE ARE FRIENDS FIRST in my mind. I say thanks to Frank, my friend. I say thanks to ZEUS for making a difference in parts. THANKS to MAX and the other guys, ADAM, JOSH. They made a difference. Lets move on. Thanks KC BILL. |

One last comment (that is unlikely) and I will drop it... and I am more responsible for poisoning the well than Bill is in this case. I have had this rant going for a good long time. My worry that others don't seem to see this from the angle that I do... Yes... Central really did nothing for the club... so if we get married to HOG... we should be happy because they are doing something? Do you think they will go to the expense of running a battletrax for a coupla dozen redheaded stepchildren? There is no profit in it. You will not draw from the bottom line to battletrax... the draw is for the true enthusiasm for the Buells... it grows into what Daves has built. No instant profit... no effort to wait for the customer base to grow. I agree with Scott... this is yet another sign that the end of Buell is on the way. THAT JUST PISSES ME OFF. HD with their marketing strength could put Buell through the roof if they put the same effort into it as the HD line. But they will not... and soon they will look at the numbers... and we all will have a collector bike! Yes they seem enthusiastic. But I ask why. Because they want to be a neo-Daves and promote the Buell line? Or because they now are the only Buell dealer and the area and if you want a Buell you have to go to them? Where people walked away when they would NOT negotiate in the past, losing sales to another dealership, someone wanting a Buell can no longer do that. They went from the highest priced Buell dealership in the area to a monopoly! THIS IS GONNA BE GOOD!!?? You want a Buell??? Well you gotta come to me now! I know some former employees... and from conversations... I think I can positively say... the excitement is not about the Buell line... it is about being the only show in town, and Buell sales growing and profit growing because it is the only place to buy a Buell!! Not because of any love for the product. If that were the case... they would have Daves'ed the place long ago. I so wanted to be proved wrong... but I am betting there is a better chance of me getting the PowerBall numbers. Has anyone seen the past marketing of HD models change because of moving to the new place? Will the monthly gross need to be less now they are in a new building? Will the TV program cause their expenses to be less? So does anyone think suddenly it all is gonna change? I see the opposite... the monthly gross is gonna have to grow. That building had to cost a ton! I keep looking for the forest... and all I can find is all these frigging trees! I am not saying anything here that I did not say to them when I tried to buy from them. They had the only yellow XB in the area... and I would have bought there had they worked with me. It would have saved me the cost of buying yellow body work. However... it literally was a take it or leave it deal. Knowing I really wanted yellow, and thinking I would cave and pay the price. Blue Springs not only worked from MSRP... but they offered to order yellow body work and trade it out... period! I ended up getting the yellow body work from Ebay, so I had both colors. Hearing they have enthusiasm... does not comfort me... it concerns me! I wonder if it is because of this... HEY... BUELL JUST GAVE US EXCLUSIVE SALES... IF SOMEONE WANTS A BUELL... THEY HAVE TO COME TO US. And the pricing practices of the past put dollar signs in someones eyes. If that continues to be done on the Harleys... what makes anyone think it will not be done on the Buells? OK I am finished... let's all put our rose colored glasses back on. Let's be good little lemmings and walk over the cliff! Has anyone seen the forest... I keep walking into trees! |

TO ALL KCMOBBERS,It was'nt my intent to off any member,dealer,rider,ect......My comments were about the price gouging issues, which I still say happens everyday in some or most businesses to some extent. How I may have ruffled some feathers commenting on this, isnt quite clear to me.In my own opinion,I think you should ALWAYS be able to purchase BELOW MSRP.But most of the time,as most of you know, you have to play the game of haggleing over the price. We all know shopping around to get your best price ,is a good thing,on anything you are looking to buy.I also know that a small business, can, charge less for a product or given job than a big business because of the overhead.Walking into Gails, was impressive,I did think about, their BIG OVERHEAD. |

MY NICKELS WORTH.....Gee we have some mighty strong opinions from the group and like in all things they are all different, you got the it's gonna' be great for us guys , you got the boy are we screwed and it's gonna' get even worse guys, and you have the undecided lets give them a chance and see what happens guys...The we are screwed guys and the oh it's gonna' be wonderful guys are acting like 5 YEAR OLD KIDS FIGHTING OVER A SEAT ON THE SWING SET...I was content to watch you all fighting over the 2 seats on the swing set while I was playing on the slide, but, I am getting tired of only using the slide and as long as you are fighting for the swing set seat NOBODY is gonna' have any fun for all the bickering and noise you all are making..You all keep it up and the owner of the swing set may realize that you are being a bunch of bitching children and take the swing set away including my slide with it,which makes me unhappy. Now for realities sake, as far as I am concerned it has been fun, but, if this crap keeps up and I mean all the bickering and whining I will be moving on to another playground as I am getting tired of all the whining and crying and infighting the group has, I will keep my bike and ride whenever and with whoever I want just like I used to do with the sporty and I will just devote more time into my skydiving sport and if I need parts for my bike I will shop around and get what I need wherever I find it at the price that is best for me be it the dealer, ebay or wherever .....later guys..... |

I am not saying we are all screwed... and I am not saying we are headed for the perfect sponsorship. AND!!! I am definitely NOT crying or whining!!! I am voicing my concern and opinion... If we quietly wait and see... there might not be anything to see... but if we intelligently express our concern... we might just get a point across. Such as... Do you want your BRAG members riding bikes they bought from another dealer because you are over priced? and/or... We prefer to be independent from HOG activities! Also... if they do actually care... and they see the concerns of the BRAG members... they just might adapt. How many times in your life has there been a situation where someone said... "Hey I didn't know... why didn't you tell me?" Here is our chance... to tell before assumptions are made BRAG is just HOG on HD sport bikes! I hope since Daves offered his services... that they might just see what he has done for the dealerships he has worked for... and see a better way to make money off Buells than moving the price above MSRP. If I sell one item for a high margin... I made a big profit. BUT... will that person buy a second one from me? OR... I can sell a bunch at a fair margin and work for return business... I will make much more. Volume sales makes tons more money than high mark up. Happy customers return out of loyalty of knowing their business is wanted... not just their money! We can sit on our hands and wait and see... or we can actively work with them (assuming the mind is open to change) and make the club and the Buell part of the dealership better. Daves is a valuable asset... I hope they will take advantage of his knowledge... it will be better for us all! That is what I am saying... NOT CRYING AND WHINING! SUBJECT CHANGE.............. You all are late!!! I showed up at Central yesterday for the ride. How rude of no one else to show up! That trip cost me money!!! But I have a Buell Garage Jacket!! If it were not for my county taxes being due... that trip on the wrong day for the ground breaking would have cost me hundreds! There were so many cool Buell things I wanted... and as we all know... every year the stuff is different... so if there is something you really like... better get it before it's gone!!! Next year it won't be available... but I bet there will be more cool stuff in that bunch! My son had a school activity this weekend... so he did not come to my house... so in long johns and leather... I will be there... I am feeling a bit better... and I have gone for almost three days with no chest pains. After my strong opinions in the last few post... I am not thinking there would be a line to do CPR. So if I do have a big one... I will not cry or whine... I wasn't then and I will not!!! I will just smile as I watch people point and laugh! ...and say... gee that looks like it hurts! Dibs on his tools!!!

>>>I have decided to help educate them as much as I can. You can do no better. Avoid becoming stuck in the muck of "what was...", "who did....", "as compared to...". Would you hold your children to these standards. I hate having to constantly give credit, but thank you to Aaron Wilson for reminding us to "go toward the light". The Kansas City group has a very special place in my heart. I was riding Buells up and down Rainbow Boulevard, having them valet parked on the Plaza for the weekend to watch Xmas lights turned on and running out of gas on the Kansas Turnpike 15 years before I had my first -KTag. Having tried the low road and the high, I offer the benefit of my expereience and encourage you to go high. You are on the cusp of something great. The pat has been tough for dealers, they demanded better prodcut and support from Buell. At this point all parties in the commercial relationship have all they have ever dreamt of. I'd be hurt if you guys, with your passion and enthusiasm, allowed your diversity of opinion to unwittingly remove you as THE potential catalyst in making the Kansas City Buell Group a great place to meet and enjoy time with like minded friends. Buells attract people with widely diverse backgrounds who bring with them widely varying opinions of what shape the world should be. The very passion with which each of us holds these beliefs would be the undoing of other groups, and serves as our strongest bond. The are many folks I do not agree with, I have learned to listen to and respect their opinions. If it's shirts, ask if you are willing to crap in your mess kit over $22? I'd urge you to talk. Talk amongst yourselves, to the dealer and to other on Badweb. Looks to me like you folks are in a position to make this one of the best clubs ever. Be sure to let someone at Gail's know this. I need to be in the area soon and am going to take a look at this place. Frankly, ya'll have me pretty excited. Court |
