just looked at D&D slip on. it's $350 for a black steel tube. yuck have ordered a ecm from DaveS and would like a pipe as well. trying to avoid the "hurts your brain & wakes the dead" -as daves put it, Force pipe. would like a shiny aluminum can or something? anyone want to share their thoughts? Thanks. |

That D&D may look ugly to ya but they perform very well on the Tubers. |

The D&D is, in my opinion, the best exhaust for tubers, especially if you get the complete system. The mounting system is rock solid and it makes tons of midrange. If you just want a slip on, stick with the Buell Race slip on that Supertrapp makes. I have heard of no mounting failures with either the full D&D kit or the Buell Race slip on, which is not to say there haven't been, but I don't recall ever hearing about anyone complaining. The full D&D kit requires the use of the Y type front hanger. I have some pictures somewhere if you're interested why. |

I've used the D&D and White Bros slip ons and the race kit. The D&D slip on is certainly the best made. It is strong, fits well and gives good power but it is very loud - even at tick over. It's not a particularly nice sound either until you give it some revs. The White Bros is a nice combination of power looks and sound but the construction is suspect. The rear mount is excellent but the front mount is dreadful (I've had one pull out of the front bend altogether) and the can itself is not that strong (I've also had the front pipe break from the can). The best IMHO is the Buell Race setup but that has it's own issues in terms of the longevity of the can and it's packing. It definitely gives the best combination of power and sound .... if you keep the packing in good shape! I have a Borla to try next. It'll take some time to sort out the mounting because Borla didn't seem to bother but I'm optimistic. |

The new setup for WileyCo is great. Just make sure you get the updated kit, the old ones will break. Also they stand behind the product %110! My old system broke and for the cost of shipping they sent me an updated system the next day. I hadn't even turned in my warranty info and didn't have a copy of the reciept. None the less they honored their commitment to service. Also FYI. The new WileyCo system is easy to remove for Oil Changes!!! |

I have the SS Wileyco. Not sure if it is the updated version Kaz mentions but it comes apart for easy primary oil changes. Been on the bike 2 1/2 years (11,000 mi). No problems. Not too loud and IMO looks good. Bought it from cas4.com, they are currently $225. Frank (Message edited by ftd on November 16, 2004) (Message edited by ftd on November 16, 2004) |

If it's too loud you still have some hearing left or you forgot to install the earplugs. |

I've run the CF wileyco for 3 years now -- not a hitch, nice tone, not too loud there's enough posers with straight pipes in my area, I don't need to add to the polution ;-} |

It should be noted that the Buell Race slip on (not the exhaust that is designed to mate to the Buell Race Header) does not require repacking. It is made by Supertrapp, and is a disk type muffler. It is also quite stout. |

what's the difference in the race header? do they follow a different routing, or are they just larger diameter? I love the way the stock pipes curve. I don't intend to change that. |

Ive got a Hindle on order for my Dads X1, Ive heard them before and they are real nice, not sure of how it will last though. I have also heard a Borla on an S2. Really, realy nice.Im thinking of getting on for my S3t to replace the overly loud race muffler that on it currently. |

I've got the D&D slip on and love it. It's a great midrange pipe but like has been posted, it's loud. Kind of has a cackle to it. BTW, I wear earplugs when I ride and some of the folks that ride with me are starting to as well. If you have any doubts as to the noise level, as Outrider, he has heard it at full song at a trackday. Personally, I like the look of the pipe, but then again, I have a black bike so it works for me. I think it would look better on your bike than you're thinking, but that's just my opinion. If it gets any dings or scrapes, black high-temp Krylon takes care of it. As for construction, I doubt you could find a pipe built as stout. Also, even the slip-on requires the y-bracket. (Message edited by uwgriz on November 16, 2004) |

This is the best picture I can find at the moment of the pipe on the bike. Just pretend it has a primary cover...

I have the buell pro series slip on. If you are looking for ear bleeding this is not for you. Mine has 14 disc with end cap and it has a nice mellow tone. Just loud enough to mute out the valve-train noise. And it installed in 20 mins with no issues. I like the looks. Al |

I am like Cowtown. D&D full race exhaust is IMHO the best system haqnds down. It is even better than the Buell race series, requires no repacking and it doesn't breakl!! |

the Wileyco looks to be the winner to me. the price is low, it's stainless. (or even carbon for the same price as the D&D) I'm not too interested in new headers. I think I will be happy when my ECM comes in if I can get this wileyco pipe for christmass. My bike is bone stock since 2001 and now and I have been getting antsy to do something to it. |

Yeah, the Wileyco looks good and the easy removal for primary chain adjustments is a definite plus. I haven't had any problems with my V&H and I love the way it sounds (and looks), but it's a real pain to remove because of the rear mount. Overall though, it's worked really well for 20,000 miles. No cracks or broken mounts (I still use the old-style front bracket too, not the updated Y-bracket). |

I've run both the White Bros E series (about 11,000 miles) and the Wileyco SS (for about 4000). They both work fine. The Wileyco is a litte better looking in my opinion and fits a little better (the back mount uses the stock bracket). The loudness is about the same (very tolerable) but the Wileyco is bassier (is that a word?) The E-series lets you screw around with the number of plates which changes some of the ride characteristics. If I remember right, 10 plates are the min and 15-18 is about where most people end up. I have a bunch of pics of the E-series here They both come apart, with some coaxing, for transmission oil changes. |

If you go back to this link http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show.cgi?tpc=4062&post=259577#POST 259577 it will lead you to the pics I posted of the NEW Wiley Co. The bigest difference is that the can connects to the elbow pipe by sliding over it rather then the old 4 bolt system. This makes it much easier to chang the oil. Also the new mount on the elbow raps completely around the pipe making it much stronger then the old weld on mount. |
