I should be picking up a 04' XB12R today so obviously I have to start thinking aoubt modificiations. Based on what I have read so far there are varying opinions on the subject but I figure I will ask it anyway. What increase in horsepower/torque should I expect from a air filter/Power commander/after market full exhuast for my 04xb12R? There seem to be quite a few options out there so what are everyone's thoughts. I just got rid of my 00' M2 cyclone and it had the Buell race kit which sounded great but since I did not ride the bike with the stock system I don't have a basis of comparison. |

All depends on what you want in choosing a pipe. Loud= D+D Cheap= Jardine All arounder=Drummer or Race can The only full exhausts out there that I know of are the TiForce and the soon(?) to be released Force pipe. Sure you don't want to come to Wisconsin to get your new bike? Did you see my promotion? Dave |

3-7HP is reasonable to expect, but the noticeable difference is usually in WHERE the power is made. ...and you don't necessarily need a Power Commander or similar aftermarket ECM. The Buell Race ECM works fine with most exhausts. |

Good advice ^above^. Murphy, It depends mostly on what you're after. Low Mid or High end oomph. Check out the knowledge vault. I believe theres a thread that shows the most important thing of all, the curve. |

They don't make one for a XB yet but maybe you could Retro fit one from a tuber. |

Hey Crazy, how much for the D&D. As well do you need the other typical upgrades with it, power commander and air filter? You can email me off list if you like at dale.murphy@diadenver.net By the way has anyone had any problems with the Buell race kit. At around $600 it seems like a good deal. |

The Buell race kit works, simply put it may not be the most powerful or loudest, but it was designed by the same wizards who make you smile every time you throw a leg over your XB. |

BUELL XB9s. UPGRADE - RACE KIT - HELP... I have had my BUELL for almost 12 months, time for some upgrades. EXHAUST, ECM, FILTER, RACE KIT.. From all the knowledge you guys have, what is the most preferred ????? Go with the Buell race kit from a dealership or maybe try an aftermarket exhaust system.. I have seen the dealer aftermarket exhausts, they ain't pretty to look at... What other brands are available, do they come with all the brackets etc... You help would be appreciated... Cheers.. |

If you have a pre 05 9 (which you no doubt do, or you would have called it a 9sx), spend $35 on the 12 series (or 05 9sx series) airbox with the race K&N filter. Cheapest and easiest improvement you will see. Not day and night, but you should be able to notice. From there, based on what I have been able to garner, your next best step is to go with a race exhaust (drummer, factory, jardine, D&D) and the techlusion box on the stock ECM. All the exhausts have their niche, pick the one you like at the price you can afford. The factory race kit is not bad either, but you can get the techlusion for less $$ and probably end up with better results. Without the race exhaust, the race ECM will only pick up about 1 horse power, at least on the 05 stock 9sx mappings, so save your money there. I posted dynos to prove it this morning in the knowledge vault. |
