Merry Christmas Everyone! Tired of the same old SCAB location? Feel in the need for a change? It just so happens that a fairly large collection of sport bikes gather the same Thursday night at Knowlwoods, located on Imperial at La Palma. This location is just a few miles further east on the 91 from the current SCAB location. It's time for a SCAB invasion! Coming from the east or the west, use the 91 Freeway and exit at Imperial. Go north on Imperial to the second light, which is La Palma. Turn left on La Palma and take the first driveway. Knowlwoods is up on the right....look for the bikes! Dress warmly, and ride safely. Have a Happy Holiday. |

Shawn, Ebear and I are meeting at the intersection of 405 and Euclid at 10AM. Plan is to get off of the 405 at Euclid, head east to the first reasonable looking meeting place (i.e., gas station, 7-11, mini mart, etc. We'll park in an obvious place. If you want to meet us there, reply here or call on my cell phone 760-685-3583. If we don't hear from you, we'll just boogie on up to the IMS after we connect, call me on my cell phone there. We'll either be in the hall or out roaming the parking lots putting American Sport Bike biz cards on any Buells we find. C-ya, Al |

Sparky, I was told the labor dispute at Bartels was between the contractor and some of the building crew and not with Bartels employees. |

Greetings, and Happy New Year!! Recently, Nelson Petrey and Barbara Beauchamp indicated their desire to hand over the reins for the Southern California BRAG group associated with Biggs HD/Buell. I've agreed to become the leader for this BRAG group. I still have to learn the details of what that means, but the transition is underway. In the past, the BRAG group would meet at Bobby's in Carlsbad on alternating first Thursdays of the month, and on the off months, the SCAB (Southern California Area Buellers) would meet in the Anaheim area. Attendance at the Bobby's meeting has been a bit light. So at the last SCAB meeting, we decided that we'd do it a little differently. Instead of meeting at Bobby's on the first Thursday of alternating months, we decided to have a meeting on the first Sunday of those months, but with a twist. We will have the meeting in a different place each time, at some interesting motorcycle destination (i.e., places like Mothers Kitchen on Palomar, Cooks Corner, Idylwild, etc). That way, people will actually ride their bikes instead of just meeting in a restaurant and just talking about riding. After the meeting, we'll plan some on a ride from the meeting spot. The first such meeting will be Sunday, January 9th, at Hells Kitchen Motorsports Restaurant, 32685 Ortega Hwy, Lake Elsinore, Calif. (909) 609-3390. This is a Motorsports themed restaurant located near the top of Ortega Highway 74, about 1.5 miles west of the Lookout on the north side of the road.. Cool new place, great food with a flame painted coffin that opens automatically for your food condiments. Paved parking for 100's of motorcycles only, cars park in the dirt lot! Pool tables, free popcorn, Starbucks coffee, etc. It's a biker friendly place I hear, I've never been there personally, I got the above info from the web. The plan is for everyone to arrive there at 11:00 AM. It's up to everyone coming from whatever directions to team up with other riders or not, just plan on getting there at 11:00AM to grab coffee, lunch, etc, shoot the breeze, talk bikes in the parking lot, etc. At 12:00 noon, we'll get a little more formal and cover a little bit of an agenda, including: 1) The direction that we want to take this BRAG group (i.e., events, structure, relations with other local BRAG groups, etc...) 2) Communications- I'd like to get updated contact info for everyone. It's only a club if members can contact each other, but due to privacy reasons, the mail lists for this group has been hidden. I'd like to compile a master list that everyone has access to, but will need your permission to put you on it. We'll discuss how best to handle this. 3) Discuss upcoming events (BRAG events, Springfast in Arizona, Laguna Seca, AMA race schedule, etc) 4) Determine meeting location for March 5) Raffle for supporting the Laguna Seca camping fund 6) Round table, everyone gets a turn to speak if they want about anything they want (i.e., recent trip or event they did, opinions about how to run the club, whatever you want/need to say...Only religion and politics off limits here :-) Afterwards, we'll do a ride down Killen Trail down into the Murrieta/Deluz road area, and then east towards Temecula, Rice Canyon, Couser Canyon, etc. Due to this one being the first time we're doing it like this, the ride afterwards is not an "official" event. Future such rides will likely have the typical waiver/release forms and follow normal BRAG ride protocols. Barbara recently sent out a request for your contact info to create the mail list. I now have all that info, so if you responded already, you're done. If you have not responded to her request, please respond to me now at alighton--------------@----------adelphia.net (formated to thwart the spambots). The next mail for the BRAG group/events announcement will go out only to those that respond or give me their info at Hell's Kitchen. Barbara's original request text follows. Barbara Beauchamp wrote: > Hi, > > I'm trying to clean up the Southern California Club BRAG email list. > > If you want to remain on my email list, all you have to do is Reply to > this. Hell's Kitchen is owned by a racer - Tyler Paulson out of WSMC. I've heard good things but it's outta my neighborhood. Be curious to hear how you folks like it. We'd considered it as a destination for a long ride. |

I've been to Hell's Kitchen a few times, it is a really cool place. Cruiser crowd usually, but there are racing pictures all over the place and I'm sure everyone will like it. Great idea Al! (hope you all like waitresses...) |

Posted on Thursday, January 06, 2005 - 03:48 pm: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Some of the track changes requested by FIA in order to run the MotoGP bikes have been completed. The first one,the bridge move took place Dec 24 and is square in the middle of our corkscrew view. I have been talking with Gill Campbell(pronounced "Jill"President of Laguna Seca and she assures me that our new view will be even better! Original View From inside Jerry's place Approximate location of bridge now. The "Veranda" Gill and my Very Wonderful Friend Mary from Scramp(Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula)Whom are the Governing body of Laguna, are working together to see that our new sites of the Corkscrew view are better than before.Since they have to remove dirt from Rainey Corner to improve runoff this will set us back and higher than before.Mary assures me that the moment new sites are marked off she will send me pictures I can post.Untill then here is a link to see bridge move. http://www.laguna-seca.com/gallery/bridgerelocationandmedicalbuilding |

Greetings, The first BRAG meeting/ride will NOT be this Sunday as previously announced, we will postpone 1 week. Weather this weekend looks pretty bad, Saturday will be a real mess, Sunday might not be as bad but the areas we were going to be riding will be a mess. I have no problems with riding in the rain when out touring and trying to get from one place to another, but there isn't much point to it for a 1 day fun ride. And it would probably limit attendance to the first meeting. So, new date: Sunday, January 16, Hells Kitchen, 11:00 AM arrive, 12:00 noon meeting start. Al |

Y'alls... The Glendale BRAG mob will be hitting the races at Willow Springs again the weekend of 14-16 January. We'll have a few attending New Racers School plus the group of regulars. If you haven't been to see road racing up close and personal, come on out! Friday is a track/practice day (open to the public even if you're not a licensed racer-they have street rider sessions), Saturday is race practice and Sunday is racing all day. Come on out and just hang in the pits with us. We are reaching critical mass - we have now a core group out there every month so if anybody ever thought of trying Club racing, you could come out and get TONS of help, tools electrical power. The Friday track days are a real bargain. Look for the Glendale HD/Buell and Bartels mobs. COME ON OUT! |
