Okay, this was brought up in the past and I've been looking for one ever since I heard about it. In planning for long rides someone mentioned carrying a small container of extra gas, preferably a small gas can. Well, I've been looking for one ever since and found this. They are MSR fuel bottles and they will hold gas, as well as many other types of fuels, and they come in 11, 22, and 33 oz bottles. Here is an email I received from them when I asked about transporting gasoline in them:
quote:From: RE: Question from the MSR Web Site Consumer <consumer@cascadedesigns.com> to me Good Day, The MSR fuel bottles can hold a number of fuels, including kerosene, JP8, naphtha, white gas, auto fuel, AV gas and others. They are NOT designed to carry alcohol. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Cordially, Eric W. They cost anywhere from $9.95 - $11.95. Here's a link: MSR Fuel Bottles Some of you may have known about these, not me, so I thought I would share. |

I got mine from http://www.rei.com about 20 years ago for camping, not motorcycling. Now I can put it to good use once again! I like the looks of the ceramic coated MSR ones. Mine is just plain aluminum. Mike. |

Yeah, you can pick them up at any sporting goods store that has a decent collection of camping gear as well. I've got 3 |

XB9R make sure you clean the hell out of it before you put gas in it if you have used it for kerosene in the past. |

I carried two pint or quart size bottles like that in the rear pocket of the Ventura bag. Never needed them but good to know they were there as I rode into a few gas stations late at night nearly on fumes a few times. Mine are a different brand of the coated bottles, but work the same. Speaking of which I'd better go find them this weekend in the garage and see if they still have any gas in them, and if so I'll dump it into the lawnmower or snowblower gas. Ooops, sorry Dyna, make that ****blower. |

Here are a couple links for discounts on outdoor gear. They typically have fuel bottles at a discount and pretty cheap shipping. www.campmor.com www.altrec.com or www.northernmountain.com |

No Booze. Those bottles will give a good single malt the taste of metal in less than a minute. Don't ask how I know. Works fine for gas, but I've not done a taste test. |

You answered a question that was deep in the back of my memory bank, and never thought of until the fuel light comes on. |

I've drug an MSR bottle coast to coast filled with gas. No leaks. I highly recommend one. |
