Everyone gets annoyed because your bike steals the show. I was the only Buell there but it sure was turning heads and causing some to go over to see what it was. Even stole the lime light off the Ducati there. Had one guy start to chat for a bit. Seems he was interested in buying a Buell. Told him to take a test ride on one and check this site out for more info on them. |

Ryan: This topic brings back fond memories. It was about 15 years ago that I rode my Buell to the AMA races one day. I was hanging out in the pits with some of the old times, I believe Scott Zampach and some of those era folks were there. I ran out of film (remember digital cameras were more than 10 years in the future when I bought my first Buell) and decided to hop on the Buell and head over to the track souvenier/goodies shop. On the South side of the track admin building was a huge Ducati display featuring the 1990 Ducati 851 Superbike. I parked on the North side to avoid the crowds, went in to get film, came out about 5 minutes later and found ALL the crowds had descended on the pristine red Buell. I spent about 45 minutes answering questions, explaining "why" and so forth. Now you know how I got started....it's only gotten worse. By the way....I still have the pictures of that day. Court |

The 3%ers ride into Bike night every Thursday here in Atlanta at The Vortex. We pull in like a Thunderstorm with all the aftermarket pipes and stuff. People look and stare like WTF with their mouth wide open? We also here people talking around us saying things like, "That's that Buell group I was telling you about." or "Those bikes are killer, I 've never seen anything like that, there is just so many of them." It never gets old to say the least. I am proud to own one. 3%ers Rock!! |

Well, I'd have to dig all of them out but the one of Bryce sitting on the Red RS was taken that very day (ignore for a moment the Black RS it "technically didn't exist when the photo was taken). To show the age of the picture, here's a picture taken of Bryce, out with the likes of Paul Rogers and Henrik, just a couple weeks ago. Bryce is the mutant offspring on the left.

Court...That's a good start. I imagine with your archives, you can give Ferris Bueller (aka Jerry Haughton) a real run for his money in the BWB's Picture Posting Contest. Nothing like a Challenge to get the Paparazzi publishing their works, eh? |

Yeah well....maybe someday. unfortunately most my Buell years, at this point, preceded the digital camera. In the days when I had 9 bikes in the garage we shot good old Ektachrome, Kodachrome and such. The good news, as Paul saw, is that I have cases and cases of OLD pictures. The reality of building a 500MW power plant in a 9 month window will pretty much preclude much posting from me for the next year. However....if you would like a picture of the FIRST HRSG in the world to be "pre-assembled", delivered on a ship from Europe (special ship designed to clear the Brooklyn Bridge by less than 2') pulled up to the site and a single 3,000,000 pound unit moved into place, well....I'll have THOSE pictures. I love power plants too. By the way...Ferris is a GIFTED photographer and has, since the day I met him, amazed me with his ability to capture the "feel" of a scene. |

hadn't been following this thread, but Denise had, and said my name had been dropped a couple of times. nothing like seeing one's name in print to get one's attention. thanks for the compliment Court, much appreciated. i'm not yet ready to buy, but i've been doing some preliminary shopping for a new computer and scanner, and when that happens i'll be able to start digitizing some of my old Buellish prints (no more thumb!) and perhaps posting a few here and there. btw, glad to see that a day on the back of the BLURR with me up on Mount St. Helens doesn't seem to have done Bryce any permanent harm. >>>glad to see that a day on the back of the BLURR with me up on Mount St. Helens doesn't seem to have done Bryce any permanent harm. Probably did me more harm than he. To this day I get the strangest looks when I tell folks I sent my youngster out for a day or riding with you and Erik. Your "save" when you hit the rock remains a quiet blessing only you, Bryce and I need to know about.

Court, if you are interested, I have a Nikon negative/slide scanner. I can quickly digitize your old negatives and slides to most any electronic image format you could want. What do you think? Mike. |

The last time I went to "bike night"(two wheel tuesday in Milwaukee), I had a big group of Harley guys approach me immediately after I pulled in, saying a "Buell bagger! Never seen one of them!". Huh, some people don't seem to get out much, eh? I also had a big group of Triumph guys hovering around my bike when I got back from gettin' some food, saying how they loved the big bags. |

I can confirm the Buell attention factor. I have some nice rides but nothing draws second looks, walkarounds, and rave reviews from rider and nonriders like the Buell. |

Myself, I get a certain joy from the longing stares of 10 year old boys rubbernecking from backseat windows at my bike in traffic. Sometimes I pace myself just to see them gawk back and forth from window to window. |

I seem to be getting a lot of what is that comments now. Not negative, more like they've never seen it before and want to know what it is. |
