Why would they even call it a Harley in the first place? Not a Harley frame or engine. Maybe because the front end is extended, lots of Harleys have that.

The Screaming Eagle V-rods in NHRA racing dont exactly have any HD parts on them, neither does the one claiming to be a Buell.

Wow. I wonder if there's a screen over the intake. Seems like little rocks that get kicked up by the front tire would FOD the engine.

Wanna take a crack at how many Ford or Chevy parts are in the NASCAR cars?...

Believing in Santa Clause has made many folks happy. No need to crap on some kids joy.

I still enjoy watching racing and realize that the big stickers on the side are more likely to testify to the source of funding rather than parts.

Racing, dear friends, is a poor TIA exercise. The are some things in life that are, and well should be, "just fun". Try explaining to someone the logic of going for a ride through the Catskills today JUST to see the beautiful fall leaves.

Science and math need not bear out all that is pleasurable.

Speaking of fastest bike in the world, I've heard the 'Busas the fastest you can buy in the states, like ...238 stock I believe, but overseas you can get the ducati 999 that tops at something like 250....anyone else know? Kinda off subject but I had heard that and figured this would be the place to confirm or deny

Ummm.. the Busa, if your talking MPH and not kilometers, I think tops out at 190 or so, but I think the newer ones have a limiter that makes them slower than that. I could be wrong but a 999 will not get that fast stock, unless maybe it is one of the crazy expensive Corsa limited production bikes. Somebody with salt on their tires, please chime in here...

Im hoping those are KM figures, cause otherwise they are way way way off.

Its generally considered that the 99 Busa was the fastest production bike to date. Depending on the rider & the location they were capable of 192mph or so. After 99 the japanese manufacturers got together & basically decided to call a halt to the top speed wars & since then most of the litre bikes are in the mid 170's up to about 184 mph or so.

>>>238 stock

No where near.

I confess to having been somewhat entertained the last several years as Hayabusa riders at Bonneville were handed their butts by Aaron's Buell. Many arrived actually buying into the urban legendeqse writings.

In addition, and much more important, I assure you that anyone reporting that speed is suspect if you have seen what I saw happen to a brand spankin' NEW tire at about 205MPH. Speed ratings are for a reason.

That being said, my riding partner has a Superbusa and they are one damned fast motorcycle.

The Germans threatened to cut the Japs off with the advent of the first Busa, hence the self imposed limit of 176 MPH. Much the the chagrin of Kawasaki who were about to release the ZX-12 and were hyping it as a Busa Beater.

The Germans also took Honda to task back in 1979 and the CBX "claimed" horsepower dropped from 103 to 99. I still want one. Red, of course. You never forget your first smokey burnout.

I'll also never forget my first Buell sighting on the road. A white S2. Topeka Air Show. He was caught in traffic so I just walked around him twice soaking up a good look. The rider said nothing, so I have decided that it was not Court.

Actually its 300 kmh or 186 MPH. If you hit the Busa rev limiter in 5th gear you should be at or very near a true 185 MPH. The speedo would have shown 185 several moments before that.

Safe bet.

If it was an S2 it was likely me. If it was an RS1200 it was Phil. My RS's were red and black.

Tripper,

Depending on the year, I'm betting it might have been.

Face it when I was riding that bike you could park all the Buells in the world inside a small Butler building.

Up from the days when I bought my first Buell and all us owners, at our "World Convention" rode to lunch together in a station wagon.
