I have copies of all the Buell PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) books and, right you are, the value and detail is oft times made fun of when, in fact, there is a great deal to it. The factory is in the business of BUILDING motorcycles and is not set up to do service type work. I've been asked frequently about "why no factory delivery" and this is a major factor. The dealer has every right to assume (it has been checked, double checked and documented) that the fasteners are tight. Court |

Rumors of uncrated bikes in barns not withstanding, is it even still possible to buy and take delivery of a bike still in the crate? Just curious. |

a bud involved with a german manufacturer said that the factory pick up program hthey had (have? dunno) was a major PITA, resulting in many difficulties -- they only continued the program due to the nature of the customers that participated (generally buying top of the line scoots, paying list +, with low firneds in high places, or some such) there are many reasons most manufacturers have distribution chains -- this is a big one |

>>>is it even still possible to buy and take delivery of a bike still in the crate? No. The dealer would be foolhardy to do so. Court |

Yeah, they show up on ebay from time to time. I was just looking to some day get a set, and at the same time looking for a humorous way to exit this thread lest Daves show up on my doorstep this weekend with a dealer-prepped and re-crated XB-Cityx. |

Mike, all you need to do is go in the back of Hals or Suburban & ask for some tie downs. Most dealers have hundreds & hundreds of those damn things. I have 5-6 of the Buell ones..didnt cost me anything except to ask for some. |

Many dealers used to just give the blue Buell tie downs away. Many customers gave them back after trying in vain to get the blue off their white frames.
