pdxs3t, ditto what you said. 'Twas a nice Monday afternoon surprise to find this thread alive again. My pictures of the trip did not include any from our night in Ouray. FB it was the Riverside. Christine was an inspiration; working single mother of six, charity work, blues song writer and a smile on her face with a positive attitude. Nice dog too!  We didn't really have a bad day on this trip, just that some were just soo damn good. Like day seven. Like day nine. A day that was all about mileage at the start and ended up late into the night. But man, who would have guessed we'd pack the sights and experiences of day nine in a cross country race? You folks will soon see what I mean. | ||

Only know I put a lot of trust - anthatdoncomeasybyme - into FB and JB2 and believe if they can recognize a good spirit in the night in this "maiden" - well, just sorry I could not be there to enjoy the laughs, music, smiles.... FMJ; Lots more to her story than the easy shot.  I believe that her brood was the result of one marriage/father. All the other stuff came after life(divorce)slapped her in the face a couple years ago. I'm an easy target for a good comeback story but it don't have to be on the level of Lance Armstrong or Dave Barr. Anybody with a strong back, lots of guff and fight to overcome adversity gets my attention and admiration. Gender poses no barrier. One of the best rewards when you follow your front wheel is the people you meet and the experiences you have. They don't come to you, you got to get out there and find them for yourself. They don't even have to be on two wheels. Fate has picked them out for you if you know what to look for. Okay Ferris, where's the rest of day 9 already? | ||

Ferris, Jerry or whomever you are...How come you keep selling Buells and Buying, riding and reporting from Imports??? honest question, Outrider, and one i'm surprised has taken so long to be asked. i don't want to answer here, not now, but i'll at least say that i'm a BIG fan of Erik and his dreams, i've logged a gazillion miles on Buells (and helped sell a few in the process), and i can count on three fingers all the times i've logged onto a VFR site over the years, and it takes NO fingers to count the times i've logged onto a V-Strom site since i bought the yellow and black thing. and yet, i log onto BADWEB at least a dozen times a day, sometimes more. something about the machines and the people who ride them, i guess. your question deserves a better answer, and i wish i could give it to you over a rack of Topless Blonde Ale next to a blazing campfire here at the 'Dome, but you just have to know that my heart belongs to Buell. if you can buy into that, please stay and enjoy this ride. if you CAN'T, well, thanks for your honesty and i hope you stay and enjoy the ride anyway. ride to lean, Ferris (Message edited by jerry_haughton on October 26, 2004) | ||

DAY NINE, cont. this day was meant to burn, i.e. we had some SERIOUS ground to cover, i.e. a Dragon to the south to slay (if we could beat the next hurricane there, that is) and a lot of vast expanse between us and those legendary 318 curves. this day was all about puttin' on the feed bag, as JB2 so eloquently says. yet... ...and yet, a sad, somber gift wrapped in blood, suffering, and tears presented itself to us upon entering Oklahoma, a gift we had never anticipated when dreaming up this trip, and a gift we could not, nor would not, refuse. day nine, 9/11/04:  (Message edited by jerry_haughton on October 26, 2004) | ||
