It rains in Yuma?

Funny thing is, because it never rains, we could get a sprinkle and they cancel stuff...

I don't think this will be a cancel though...

This is what I got to drive through coming back from Salt Lake yesterday:

nice, eh? Man I'm glad to be home...
So are we going to ride Hwy191 or what?

Wycked,
we'll plan a roadtrip to Las Cruces, one of these weekends. We can exercise a few of my toys over there, and then bring back the XR350, ok? (it's an XR not an XL)

Battletrax in Yuma Today

Charlieboy6649

XB9rSki

XB9grl

SouthernMarine, my bike couldn't make it, fouled plugs, couldn't change them in time. Reg was nice enough to let me use the CityX that Buell had give him to use for Battletrax. Awesome Bike.

Charlieboy had a boo boo.

We told him he was allowed to scrape the pegs, but breaking them off was a no no.

Notice Charlie's nice new design for the front brake.

Dave,

Nice pictures, thanks for posting them.

Charlie & Elizabeth,

Thanks again for the hospitality and letting me crash over.

We need to do that again, I had a blast.

I started a thread in the Quick Board posting more pictures. Thanks for taking the ones of me Ski. Wish I could have brought my bike out. Enjoyed today, nice meeting you.

Here's a question for the board. I pulled my plugs when I got home. The front was black as tar, looked like tar on it also. The back looked fine, but I broke it getting it out. No, problem. I'm gonna replace them both, gonna go look tomorrow. I've searched the board and everyone mentions the NGK KR8AI Iridium's. Is that a good way to go? Is there another good option? And what is the proper gap. NGK says .040 for theirs, and I've noticed a different gap for other plugs. Hopefully that is all that was wrong with my bike. Take it easy.

Southern, the KR8AI's a good but expensive. Use the recommended gap they list also.

Thanks Wycked, got some on the way. Should be in Tuesday. NAPA ordered me a set of DCPR8E's and a set of the KR8AI's.

Well, left the homestead at 1500 for Pendleton again today. Got to Occotillo and said, "God I pass S-2 every time and have never been on it." So I gassed up in Occotillo and set out for parts unknown. Little did I know the spectical I was in for. S-2 goes through a desert state park and it was breathtaking. The fact that the twisties were better that they looked on the map was a plus. The overlooks on the mesas were amazing. I got to the 78 and had a great ride up the mountain to Julian, Ramona, and Escondido which most of you have done before so I need not explain. I had a great ride and it only took 3 hours from my house to the barracks. So, the route was every bit as fast as the freeway. Don't know if it was distance, or the twist factor the park and mountain gave me, either way, it was sweet. I think I'll go that way every time now...

I've been doing some more research on my plug problem, here on the BadWeb, and it all points to me running to rich and not letting the bike warm up long enough. I won't make that mistake again. I get the plugs tomorrow and I'll let ya'll know for sure.

Also, while doing my research, I saw where people were changing out the plug wires. I saw a lot of talk about the NOLOGY plug wires (is that correct?). Anyone have any experience with these? What would be your advice on the best plug wires to run? I'm not looking at changing them out right now, but since I'm thinking about plugs right now I thought I'd ask, don't hurt to have the knowledge and learn from ya'll. : )

The Nology wires work best on NONcomputer controlled engines. The wires themselves use the engine block as part of its capacitence and that can give some of the sensors false readings. Especially the O2 sensor*. Your better off just getting a good sized set of Accel wires. Sides have you looked at the PRICE of the Nology wires?

*:information supplied by Grassroots motorsports magazine with regards to the Nology system on daily driver non-race dedicated engines. With a multimeter attached to the sensors the Nology wires created alot of spikes in voltage through the sensors. On dedicated race engines the spikes were almost non-existent

Thanks Wycked. No, haven't looked at the price, haven't had the chance to research them yet, just read a few post where some were talking about wanting to use them. I'm in no rush, but like I said, it doesn't hurt to have something in mind in case something unfortunate were to happen. I'll do some more research, but definitely keep your advice in mind. This is one of the many reasons this board is an awesome site, getting info from fellow users who have experience, or just plain know a lot more than I do. Thanks.

From what I've heard the Nology wires are snake oil. Try more searches here or at www.corner-carvers.com.

Hey Guys,

Anyone see any problem with drilling out the magnesium brace? The blinkers I bought have a threaded rod that is too big for the hole...

Thanks...

Just make sure you'll be able to get a nut on the threads once it's through... I don't see any issues other than that.

Yea the threads are long enough. Just didn't want to drill without a consensus... I don't have to go much bigger, just slightly to get it through.

Slow speed with the drill. Take your time and don't let it get hot.

Not just the threads... make sure there is enough room for the nut. I haven't looked at mine in a while, so it may be a non-issue.

Ok, here's crossing the fingers folks, my new clutch should be in Thursday but thinking possibly friday. If things go well I figure it will be up and running by Saturday since I don't have the very sweet clutch tool I have to take the basket off the bike.

Hey Bart, Good to see you back. Yeah-I'm up for it! I have to put on my new Spring on the rear shock and I'll be ready to fly. Do you want to do an overnighter in Alpine or a One day ride?
There's a group of Euros going up to do the Globe loop on Saturday which I tentitively said I'd go along, but we could take off from Globe and head North if you want. I don't have a Tank Bag for the Aprilia as of yet, I'll go buy a BackPack. Is it cold up there like those pictures you posted? I may need to put on my chains!

Hey, just an update on my plug problem. NAPA didn't get my plugs in. I ran over to the HD Stealership and grabbed the stockers, bought some fuel hose to take your advice Wycked, put them in, she fired up and is running fine.

My problem was to much fuel additive and not letting the bike warm up properly. tsk tsk tsk ..... lesson learned. I talked to NAPA and they ordered the wrong plugs, they are supposed to have mine in on Friday and I'll have a spare set. The next ones to go in will possibly be the Iridiums.

New tire is in but not on...think I could squeak another 500 or so miles. NEW exhaust can should be in TOMORROW! (Yep...no more lawn mower noises...I got me one of dem dere Jardines!)Don't think I'll be able to get it on by the weekend for a ride. I was actually going to attempt installing it this weekend instead or riding, but I'm up for a ride!

I'll be in Phoenix tomorrow, Thursday, and possibly part of Friday. I'll be staying in Maricopa with my buddy but I'd be willing to tip a few back with any of you Phoenix boys. Call me on my cell and leave a voice mail if I don't answer. (520) 404-7247

AL,
Can't do an over nighter, have company coming in for Saturday night. David and I did it in one day, and he came up from Tucson...
(Speaking of David, where IS he?)
Which day is better for you guys? Saturday is probably better for me, as I'll probably be hung over on Sunday morning...
