When i asked them if they knew what to adjust the slack to, they told me they knew how to change a belt.

Like Josh said, they should have pulled the spindle. No need to touch the belt adjustment, but it looks like you asked 'em to take up the slack. They could claim they were following your instruction.

ZT;
Nothing you break while learning will be in vain. No tool you spend too much on at one time will cost too much in the end. The price you pay for letting people "learn" on your bike might be broken and/or damaged parts (which they, of course, will not want to pay for) or it could be your life. At least if you do it yourself you'll know whether or not to trust it. I've seen first-hand what untrained monkeys can do. No thanks. Besides, it's a great way to REALLY learn about your machine.
As for lifts, I bought the Handy lift table 2 years ago and couldn't be without it now. It truly is the difference between "working" on your bike and having a good time in the garage.

the story turned out better than it could have. I called today at 430 to see if they replaced the belt, and the mechanic told me he just got off lunch and was going to start "messing" with it. "I dont feel like trying too hard to get that plate (isolator mount) off." I told him to load the bike on a truck and just take it to my house and i'll put the belt on.

I ended up paying 140$ for a 180-55-17 dunlop 208 , 25$ labor, and 40$ for a new belt.

A few raps from a hand impact screwdriver w/ 7/32" allen socket loosened the mount bolts with ease. I still havn't put the belt on, who knows if it will fit (not a HD replacement).

Thanks to all for the advice, tomorrow i get to ride in beautiful tx weather. Also, i found two scratches that were definately not on the bike before I gave it to the shop, I guess just reminders of a hard lesson learned.

Would a D&D slip on for a 97-98 S3T fit on an '01 M2 ? Or are there header/ mounting differences? Or would it be a bad cam/pipe mix? I know this is the wrong place but I need a quick answer, somebody please...

Probably not. There are differences in the years as evidenced by the fact there are two different Buell race mufflers for 97/98 and 99/later bikes. But to be sure, check out the D&D website. The D&D is a pretty heavy pipe, all things considered. Pretty loud, too. Let us know what you find out.

Hmmm, I see the start of a business here...

The change from a two to a two and half inch outlet pipe occurred in 98 for S3s so the D&D will either fit a 97 S3 or a 98. S1s(except S1Ws) and M2s still used a two inch in 98. Maybe more detail than you need, but if the slip on is made for a 97 S3 it won't fit your late model 2, if it is made for a 98 S3 you probably can work with it, but keep in mind the front mount also changed in 99 (same location but a little different setup).

I believe that 97 and 98s had a two inch collector, versus 2 1/2" for 99 and up.

As I understand it....

'97. All are 2".
'98. S1 and M2 are 2".
'98. S1W and S3 go to 2-1/2".
'99. All are 2-1/2" with different headers/mufflers.

Europe and Australia stay with 2" for all years up to the XB.

Got to test ride one of these at the show in Amsterdam.
COOL! I want one.

Rai

Your information is accurate.

Get me your current address, I have some 2005 Buell stuff you need.

Trials riding.
What fun.
There used (probably still is) a "creek" back home.
Never any water in it unless it just rained.
Used to ride up the waterfalls on a Gas Gas.
Some of the most fun I've had at such a slow speed.
Wish I had that bike now.

Peter, I bet you fell off, because you are going too slow. Speed is the key to that stuff, next time hit it at some speed and you'll sail on over.

Glitch, One of the real bonuses of the computer age is that you don't have to even own a trials bike, need to live near a creek, or risk injury!

You can ride trials in the comfort of the chair upon which you sit!

This is the NEW location of the Bridge.Scramp has in their infinite wisdom decided to put this new bridge ACROSS the corkscrew...Im guessing they are trying to be cheap and reuse the old one.Anyone who has been there would agree putting the bridge further DOWN the track BELOW where the site is now would still fit its purpose and NOT interfere with the view.Im still talking with the Planning Group and hope to talk them into listening to their attendees and consider re-location.Ill keep you all informed.

But anyways,we have secured our three sites for next year!!Other than the bridge move they are beginning to cut away the bank immediately following the May 1st event and this will cause our usual spots to remain in the same line, just higher up the hill. This will probably cut off the last good Unreserved camping views and make for less room altogether for unreserved .Good thing were locked in!Since we have everyone who wants to camp covered all you need are Paddock passes(if you want to visit pits)Your 2 or 3 day admittance tickets,Parade lap(a must have!!)and grandstands if you like.Good luck...the phone lines there have been busy all day!!
