Good question. I tried the "Contact" link on the Hall of Fame 2002 page, http://www.ama-cycle.org/email.html, and got a blank page. |

Erik Buell is not in the AMA Motorcycle Museum Hall of Fame. He is in the National Motorcycle Museum Hall of Fame. It is confusing but they are two separate things. http://www.nationalmcmuseum.org/ |

Erik not being in is what I would term a "designer flaw. He did have the first modern bikes displayed as "Art". Regardless of your bent toward Buells as motorcycles, they are spectacular art and have been so recognized. For the record...neither Erik nor I have never been recognized for our good looks. |

He did have the first modern bikes displayed as "Art". That's an inaccurate statement. That would be a 916 then! Rocket |

Rocket, Art as in the 996 - I hope he sees it before the network censors delete.

I'll grant you the 916 is lush. I was referring to when the Buell was displayed, in 1996, in an art show. Met some way cool folks including the two fellows who did the Areon chairs for Herman Miller. I'm certain the Ducati has enjoyed similar exposure. I've done some public presentations (last one at the grand opening of the Ducati Flagship store in Manhattan) on the history of Ducati. Their home appliances and electronic components (primarily capacitors) were all evident of the Italian knack for design as well. |
