Was talking to a neighbor today and he was looking at the pics of my XB before I added the firebolt front fairing. He is an old skool dirttracker who has run Pikes Peak on an XR back aways. Anyways he was saying that the XB would probably be a really good platform for the Peak. So I jumped back online and pulled up the rules...The engines are limited to 750cc for 2v/Pushrod engines. So, would you destroke the motor or debore an XB9 to meet the rules? Also it has to be carbed, no FI allowed...But anyways, it just got me started thinking and pondering for next season... |

Buy a 750. Then have at it. That would be a riot. Never Give Up! PS. Be sure not to run off the edge. Long ways down ya know. |

An XB isn't available as a 750 The idea is using an XB platform/chassis for the run. Not just build another XR750 dirtracker |

Put 883 cylinders on it and it will be a 724 or something close. Pretty easy. |

My Dad and I went to see the race in the early '90s, it's an amazing race!!! Too bad the Pike's Peak highway will be paved soon(in a few years), that'll really change it for the worse in my opinion. Thx Brad |

Here we go... Someone who thinks outside the box... How about keeping the long stroke for awesome torque, but reduce the bore (like Annon said)... Here's the twist, use the extra room for a water jacket around the cylinder and head... Better cooling would allow a more aggressive build (compresion/advance)... Then since you have to carbie it anyway, dual carbs (if you can jam them in??)... Then a custom extended swinger for better drive and stability... In fact, use it for vertical ascent hill climbs, too, by having 2 swingers... |

Yup I love thinking outside the box. I am not much for the verticle ascent style hill climbs. The guy I was talking to was saying the basic setup of the XB chassis would make the bike very pitchable for the dirt corners of Pikes Peak. If just using cylinders from an 883 were that easy...makes me wonder why someone else hasn't already done it...or did one of the Dirtrack bikes run an XB engine and no one noticed this last year? |

I think too little horsepower and too much weight might be a problem, but the chassis would be great. |

Quick Silver double pumper? CV 48? You could bore the cylinders to oversize to get closer to the 750cc. GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Or stroke and bore a Blast, that would save the weight. Wonder what kind of power that would put out. |
