Long story short: they replaced wheel bearings and put on a new set of Pirelli Diablo's. Sounds good right? Bunch of boneheads they are! Here's what happened and went wrong: They didn't remove and install bearings using a bushing and bearing puller and the bearing installer tool. After all, a hammer and screw driver works just as well right? On the way home I noticed a little headshake. I figured I'd check the steering head bearings, only to find out I don't have the right size that fits my torque wrench. I call 'em up and he says he can check it for me. For free, service ... So: They wanted to torque it with the front wheel on the ground. I tell 'em to go by the book. He jacks up the bike WHILE its still on the side stand; Tell me how you can measure steering head bearing resistance when the bike is leaning over??? Well, he didn't. He then used a torque wrench to LOOSEN the bolt, and used a regular wrench to fasten it (really!). He then (I'm serious) snaps the upper fork clamp in two while fastening the stem pinch bolt. I couldn't believe my eyes and felt like sitting in a quiet corner and cry for a while. I had to wait another 2 hours for them to get another bike and replace that upper fork clamp. Result of it all? Head is still shaking and so is mine. I have to go back in a week or two to have the upper fork clamp replaced with a new one because this one is damaged. I need a garage big enough so I can do this stuff myself. I never learned for it but it just hurts too much to watch these bloody fools mess around with my bike like that. Other than that: THESE TIRES RULE! Big difference, steers much lighter, easier etc. Really nice. |

I took it to one of which several people said it was "oke". Well, "oke" ain't good enuf for this sucker. No wait, what I've seen ain't "oke" at all. It just plainly stinks. Ah well ... *sigh* ... whatever ... |

aaaah...man this sucks big time do you care to name the unlucky dealer who lost a potential customer ? i know bad things happen everyware, even in the finest off shops.. so i understand if you don't want to reviel there name, becouse there is not easyer thing than name calling and badmouthing. but it sounds like they turned a grease monkey loose on your bike all the best, B |

I know what your going through. I took my bike to the dealer, and needless to say I am now looking for a new place to service my bike. |

Wonder what Anonymous thinks when he reads these kind of threads? It must hurt, but it's ok Erik, we understand that they provide the financing. Still you would think Harley Davidson could get its shiet together! Not to mention that the dealers should stop hiring people on crack! Just my opinion (as usual xbolt12 |

They should take away all hammers, cold chisels, and spanners bigger than a 14mm. I just found a massive chisel mark on my front axle. Not happy. |

They should take away the boneheads working there ruining your bike and put some guys in there that actually LOVE the bike they are working on like it's their own and pay 'em a worthy salary. Fact is, these guys get paid so little they can't even afford a bike. Minimum pay, over here at least. |
