My son and I took off Thursday AM headed for Deal's Gap -- a grand day indeed (they're always grand when you're headed to the Gap.) This would be his first time to ride it and boy was he excited (I'm always excited too, but I was hiding my excitement well .) Our first shared experience of the day was getting stuck beside/behind a fully loaded cattle truck and we took a cow crap/pee bath. All around bad experience, but we dealt with it. Got our selves semi-cleaned up and continued the mission. Riding the VROD makes stopping pretty easy and often -- do you think we could get another gallon of gas? The M2 was, and as it's want to do, sipping gas at minimal amounts just cruising along. That M2 just flat out rules. We got to the Gap and met a few folks, John Lynch from Ohio riding a battle hardened S1 and an all-around nice guy. A couple of UT students with a Porsche, a video recording system, and a R6 -- them fellows were having a good time too and they had some great videos. We had a blast riding the Gap and the VROD did much better than I thought it would. The stock exhaust is well used now (thankfully I ordered some new stuff from Dave Tuesday.) The M2, with number one son aboard, just walked off and left me -- man, it would be nice to be young, limber, fearless. Had it not been for the RV holding up traffic I'd probably still be looking for him. Here's a few pics and hope to see you there soon. Greg |

Bigdaddy: It's fun riding with your son, isn't it? I wonder how many of the other folks here get to do that... rt |

RT, I have a hard time describing how much fun it is. I believe the most enjoyable part of the ride was when I had to wave him past and let him and the M2 do their collective thing. It's a blessing indeed! Greg |

Sweet -- I hope there's others who know what we speak of :-) We're riding to the F1 race in Indy as his HS grad present and then heading out to parts unknown -- just to get him in a good college frame of mind. My middle child, she's a college sophomore, just told me she's ready for something translucent and blue -- should make for a very interesting conversation when it reaches the executive (read as Wife!) level. I rode the dragon on a Vrod too. Good ride if you like grinding the pegs. I got them to the angle I wanted, then went to work on length. It's a gas guzzler isn't it? I burned nearly a whole tank with one trip over and back. Gotta luv it though. Just working 1st & 2nd gear hanging between 5 and 9krpm, roaring up that road. Sounds like you had a good time too. |
