My experience in the past with Corbin was good in that I complained about a seat which was supposedly lower but actually seated me higher. I called them and they said return it and we'll modify it at no charge. They got it right. This time I was prepared and called them and gave my inseam, weight and height. The answer was that they'd shave the sides and lower overall height 1/2 inch. No charge for custom order but the wait was 5 to 6 weeks. It arrived yesterday a day under 4 weeks. The big test for Ol' Shorty and hot damn it was lower and felt better than a Corbin Tractor Seat. Looks good in all black carbon fibre finish Downside the latch would not lock. I shaved the rubber cushions a bit. Nope. Then I shimmed the seat u-bolt which goes into the latch. Not enough. More. Finally I was up to at least 3/16th" before it would lock. Not a plug and play for sure. Now if it will stop raining I can give it a real world test |

The rubber bumpers have enough give. Here's how I install my Cobin seat to XB9S. Align the seat correctly. Using my fist, give a quick jab at the rear, and the latch snaps in really tight so that there is no play at all. |

The mis-ordered Corbin I got was like that. I had to stick 3 washers under the u-bolt AND cut the bumpers down. The replacement seat locked no problem but I still had to whittle on those stupid bumpers. I didn't cut them off all the way across, just til they dropped off the edge. Bob |

So I take it everyone recommends the Corbin seat and not the "Updated" Buell unit? My rear gets tired after only 150 miles. The one Corbin seat I saw looked odd, like it didn't match the bike. Any thoughts? |

Oh, and do they make on for the XB9R? If not, is there a recommendation for one? |

Okay, now I'm on the 3rd post in a row! Corbin is working on the 9R seat, so I guess I wait or get the Buell unit. |

I was talking about my xb9sx. The replacement seat for the R in the Buell catalog looks really plush. Bob |

I had to shave the bumper and adjust the u latch to get the corbin to fit right, but it was a pretty trivial task. And that made it like Lyle's, a single bump of the fist on the tail and it latches with *0* play. As opposed to the stock seat which slides 1/4" front and back. The Firebolt seat is built, they were working on the photos so I could put it on the web store and they dropped their digital camera. I'll have it up in a few days. |

I have one of the Buell R "custom" seat on 12R. I really like it. A huge improvement over the stock seat. I have a spare one if any one is interested in buying it. |
