Saw it on Two Wheel Tuesday last night. Looks better than I thought. I've seen pics and the way people bag on it didn't know what to think. while not my style, cool anyway. Really liked the race buell with the ram air tube coming thru the fairing. | ||

I just got a CityX and while I love the color scheme and think the translucent blue body work is a neat gimmick, I wasn't so sure about the hand guards and the headlight grill. I've decided to leave them on for a while. I didn't get the bike to impress anyone but I have enjoyed the response it has gotten. Yesterday I was visiting a friend's business on Main Street. A guy in a Jeep pulled in to the parking lot and I watched him from the store. He just sat there...staring at the bike. Twice he started to pull out, but then stopped and stared at it some more. When I had the VIN verified by a State Trooper, we ended up chatting about the bike for 15-20 minutes. He said it was the coolest bike he had ever seen. He asked me how fast will it would go....  There's no question in my mind that XB9SX is a better bike than previous XB9S models [I owned an 03 XB9SL]. The minor changes that have been made seem to have been very effective. The engine runs, accelerates, and shifts smoother. The bike's ride quality is better and it is more comfortable than my '03. I keep looking at the speedo and am shocked that I am going as fast as I am and have to roll off the throttle to keep things under break-in restrictions. Harley / Buell transmissions aren't known for being particularly smooth, but yesterday after downshifting I found myself wondering, I did use the clutch, didn't I? If the Buell demo fleet is anywhere near you, take advantage of the opportunity and test ride one! | ||

Should have told the trooper it was none of his business and to quit stealing 20 minutes pay from the tax payers of your fair state. You don't get to BS for 20 min. on company time and neither should he. | ||

I just don't understand why some of you guys are happy to be detained by a traffic cop that just wants to chit chat. Traffic cops (and that would include State Troopers) are the lowest form of human life and don't deserve 20 minutes of my time at their convenience. Tell the dick head to go to the local HD shop and look at a Buell on his own time like everybody else has too. | ||

Not that it is going to change your attitude or anything but I wasn't detained by anyone. A new state law here requires you to have a vehicle VIN verified by the state police if you purchase a vehicle in another state. I rode my bike to the local State Police HQ where he was on duty. He started asking me questions when he came outside to check the VIN and we had a nice visit. You could look at it this way [but I'm sure you won't]... he had a positive experience with a biker who was wearing gear and was responsible. He was interested in the bike. Perhaps later in the day when he went on patrol duty, he pulled over a biker and remembering his earlier encounter, cut the biker a break... or maybe not. Or perhaps the next time he works an accident involving a biker and a cage and he has to write it up he gives the biker the benefit of a doubt when determining who is at fault...or maybe not. Oh...my bad, obviously.  I guess it's just not possible to enjoy a thread and share your enthusiasm about Buells without someone interjecting hateful comments or pushing their own agenda. And when that occurs you are not supposed to respond or challenge them on it, lest you incur an equal amount of wrath from the detached and clearly superior onlookers. I guess this is okay?.... Gosh, Ray. That's a pretty extreme position you have regarding State Troopers. You must have had a really bad experience that caused you to feel that way. I guess I'll have to disagree with you on that one. I've run into a few with bad attitudes but most of them I've met are just trying to do their job well enough to keep their benefits and to come home alive at the end of each shift. Gee....I wish there was something I could say that would make you soften what appears to be an inflexible position here, but I guess we all have a different perspectives and they are all equally valid and worthy of our consideration. Wontcha' be my neighbor?  I like my Buell.  | ||

well brad, it's good to hear some excitement about one of buell's newest products! i have yet to see the new cityx but i am definitely looking forward to it. the concept erik is going on (with the new breed of buells) is refreshing in a world of my bike is faster than yours and way too many harley and harley clones! | ||

anybody else has one of the City X bikes? Not planning on buying one just like to hear more about it. On the show they had Erik blabbing about it, and a buell racer saying he thought it was cool too. | ||

Some folks are put off by the gimicky cosmetic touches on the CityX but underneath those are some small changes that I believe make for a much improved bike compared to earlier XB9S's. I regret not taking a 12 out while the demo fleet was available, but I don't feel like the 9 is suffering from any major power deficit...nothing a race kit can't cure.  I guess the new bike enthusiasm will fade after a while or my bursitis plagued knee will flare up and force me back onto one of the other bikes in the stable, but I'll go kicking and screaming...well...with the good knee, anyway.  | ||

A motorcycle, like few other "consumer durables" has a unique ability to renew it's fascination. You start by relishing the new. About the time you expect that to fade, you ride a great road and become starry eyes again. About the time you learn the "fun new road" thing is a renewable resource, you ride with a Ferris, Al, JB2 or Paul and find out the world is rounder and happier than you thought. It would be a Policeman detaining an innocent person against his will for as long as the policeman wanted to talk. It's not a matter of spending 20 minutes talking to another motorcycle enthusiast about our favorite brand of bike, it's a control issue. As long as he has the badge and the red and blue lights, he's in control and I just hate that sort of situation. If the bike owner pisses the policeman off the policeman is free to inspect the bike until he finds a fault or follow the victom 'til he does something wrong and then ticket him. The policeman could arrest the bike owner and through him in the pokey for up to 72 hours without charging him with a crime, AND have his bike towed and then charge him for the towing a storage fees. The heck of it is that I'm happy to let policemen have this sort power. It's valuable crime fighting tool if used the right way by policemen (and women) who are honest, fair, and good at their job. But in the situation we're discussing the policeman is dishonestly doing personal business on company time, taking advantage of the trust the public has placed in him, displaying poor judgement and probably shouldn't be trusted with such power. The policeman isn't the least concerned about his victoms time schedule or anything else about him. This is nothing more than a public servant misusing the power entrusted to him.
