Motorcycle perfection! I can toss on the tank bag and saddle bags, throw the big V-twin into top gear and loaf around country highways for days at a time in reasonable comfort, expecting to hit up to 160 miles or more before I MUST have gas. I can strip off the bags, hit some remote, curvy back roads and embarrass bikes that should run away from my measly 90ish rwhp. Or I can cruise around town at night listening to a steady chorus of "cool bike, man" and see the envy in the eyes of those poor suckers on 600cc revvers. A concept that stuck with me from the new Cycle World is a bike's "operating range," that is, the specific area it in which was designed to excel. The XB12R has such a very wide range in which it excels, compared to other sport bikes, that it is easily the most versatile bike I've ever owned. I love it, I can't stay off of it on my free days, and I'll probably never let it go! |

My sentiments exactly . I'll probably pick up a tube frame at some point too. |

Agreed. My XB12R has taken over as my primary transportation. I ride it +50 miles a day commuting to work and back with no complaints. Yesterday it carried my wife and I on a ~240 mile trip to VIR and back. Some weekends I use it for chasing down my buddies on 998s and RC51s. I can park it anywhere and watch the compliments roll in. I could nit pick it and say it needs a stiffer rear spring and hard bags for two-up weekends or more top end for chasing my buddies on the straights- but realistically the bike does everything I want. I like to think that I'll keep it forever, but I'm on a one-bike budget and I'm sure eventually someone (probably Buell) will build another bike that I like better. For now, no one builds a bike that I'd even consider for replacing my 12R. Mike L. '04 XB12R (11k miles) |

Sshbsn, I agree completely!! I owned an M2 that I thought I rode alot, traded it in with 13K on it after 4 summers. I bought the XB12R as soon as I could get one last fall and it now has just under 9000 miles on it and I'll probably make it to 10,000 before the snow flies. Put 405 miles on it going to Slimy Crud Run two weeks ago and 350+ yeasterday riding into Wisconson to look at the leaves yesterday. Actually I didn't see to many leaves as I was enjoying the great roads!! |

Almost 4000 miles since May on my XB12R demo. Haven't had near enough time to ride this year. Dave |

Well my Xb12R is the greatest. I love it. I even spanked a newer model Katana that was modded to the gills. Still didn't have enough for me!Odie and I may have even converted him, oh well we'll see. |

Fullpower, I tried to buy her a motorcycle about two years ago, she wanted a ring instead. Now we're married and I still can't get her on her own bike. About the bike though, the '04 passenger peg brackets and the accessory touring pillion go a long way towards passenger comfort. It's still not my ideal two-up tourer, but after our 200+ mile trip yesterday her only complaint was being too cold. Mike |

Hey, if you buy her a bike, you won't get to enjoy having her snuggle up behind you...Who'd want to pass on that? |

Picked up my 12R june 4th, have 5300 and change for miles, drummer, race ecm, saddle bags, custom seat and pillion, as you said, has become a daily drive. I actually take the LONG way almost everywhere I go, just to ride. |

Guys, Spike has it made. Just read that Ebay listing on the other post! No need to push her into anything she doesn't want! |

Spike, You want to convince her to buy her own bike, just sign you and her up for a motorcycle safety course and tell her it will make her a better passenger (which it will). I did that with my wife and she was at the Buell dealer the next week buying her blast. She was hooked fast. |
