Well it's going to be a big one, next weekend, kicking off on friday 1st oct, BUELL DAY, with Craig Jones & all at the Circuit Carole just north of Paris nr the Charles DeGaulle airport, should be a top day out if the weather holds. Then sat 2nd & sun 3rd, the last EVER meeting at the historic Montlhery circuit, for those that don't know it , it's on old inter-war track with a highly banked speed bowl, unfortunately It's closing for public meetings after this coming weekend, due to safety/insurance/money issues. But it's classic bike racing in the Coupe Gerald Jumeau to see it off, should be a good'un. If anyone wants to experience a bit of history, I'll see you there, my number is in the RAN. now then, time to give the M2 a wee checkover hm hm hmmm hmm  | ||

Well I've finally found the time to post a few pics from last weekend. We set off bright & early on Friday morning, me on the mad sewing machine, and my mate Loic a former X1 owner on his recently aquired Dyna-Sport, destination, Buell day at Circuit Carole just north of Paris about 240 miles from here. We arrived about 11.15 sadly too late to sign up for track time. Most of the folk there were from Paris region, but others came from all over France & I even saw a couple of foreign plates. The large part were XBs but a good showing of tubers as well, mostly X1s, some nice paint jobs & customs too.     The morning session was given over to tryout the current range & the afternoon to track sessions on personal rides. Lunchtime (with free lunch for Buell riders) saw Craig Jones entertaining the crowd with his show, & all I can say is WOW! That guy can do stuff that seems to defy the laws of physics, & what a nice bloke too, as one of the few brits there I got the chance of a couple of good long chats with him & he's a real ambassador for Buell, a true prince.  The Mans bike.  Check out the tyre scuff marks on the belly pan!  Me & Craig Jones, top man! As a little icing on the cake, I was the only one there wih a Buell slingbag & a streetfighter t-shirt (thanks again Tripper & Don), One of the Buell France big-nobs spotted the t-shirt & demanded how I came by it, I told him & took the opportunity to ask why the promo's are always US only, the reply was to the effect that they're aware of what's being said & written on the subject and that they'll be starting something similar in France very shortly. So progress appears to be being made. That's Friday taken care of & very good day it was too, Well done to Buell France. | ||

Holy crap! That is a long way for that tire to move to make scuff marks on the spoiler there. I am thinking that is a long way for forks to bend relative to normal fluctuations of less than 1/2"... | ||

Your British? (well, Innes, of course) I'm glad the slingbag is bringing benefits to Buell enthusiasts. Who woulda known? Does that thing really stay on your back when you ride? I might have to find a leftover one somewhere. Great pics. We have a hard time getting that many Buells together in the States! | ||

Ingemar, it stayed dry all weekend wasn't too cold at all, ideal riding weather. Tripper, the bag does stay on your back but you need a bit of weight in it to stop it floating; Newfie, I thought you'd like it, there were a couple of others too but that was the best one. (where's my newfie pix then?) | ||

Saturday saw us at the historic Montlhery track for the "Trophee Gerard Jumeaux" it's a 2 day event very casual & lots of fun there's all sorts of bikes racing from old 20s flatheads to 70s stroker GP racers, some of them seriously giving it everything, & some just tooling round for the fun of it. As the main part of the track is a big concrete bowl, the noise & smell of oil & exhaust is incredible. the facilities are to put it delicately, rustic. But there's lots of woods in the middle so no prob; A lot of people camp on site and there's a real party atmosphere all weekend, there are trade stands & a big bike jumble with everything from rarities to rubbish. this year I wandered round with another friend I met up with there & we stopped every 5 mins to chat with people we bumped into that we hadn't seen since last year, Sadly this looks like the last time it's happening here as the circuit is closing to the public, the "Coupe Moto Legendes" (look it up in your search engine) has already moved to Dijon this year, it's the other side of France so a lot of people didn't go this time, we'll see what happens next year. After a weekend of Bikes & Partying it was time to hit the road and we all went off our different ways, I'm very pleased say that Baby perfomed flawlessly even if it did sound like it was falling to bits inside. Here's a few pix (not many cos I was too busy having a good time)& a couple of links. one link has pics from last year to give you an idea what it's like & the other is to save the track so sign the petition ta.   A nice old HD sidecar what a noise, but it couldn't keep up with the Beemers.  There were a load of Margan 3 wheelers this year, boy was that fun to watch.  To get that high up the banking you got be going some!
