Yesterdays ride pretty much summed up what being a "Motorcyclist" is all about. A bunch of guys getting together discovering new roads, testing themselves and their machines, making new friends and helping one and other out any way we can.
I'm glad everyone enjoyed the "different" route through Baghdad. Those are some of the most beautiful and challenging roads we never get to ride on.
Wicked,
Most people would have called for a trailer after a let off like that. Not you. You soldiered on with the group and made the most out of a bad situation. Having been there, I know that it could have been much, much worse. I hope you and the bike heal quickly.
Don,
Pleasure meeting you. That was really cool of you to trade your good bike for a broken one. I'm looking forward to riding with you again. I see many beers in our future.
Bill,
You seem like your skills have improved quite a bit since the last time we rode together. Glad to see you and the bike are doing well.
Brian,
YOU are Da'man! Riding up all the way from Tucson to "uncharted" territory. Riding well past the expiration of your hall pass. You had an extra long day. How's the muscles? I hope you get to come out and play more often.
Carey,
A ride on the 16th sounds like a great idea! Maybe a Prescott/Jerome/Payson loop is in order. Are you sure you still know how to ride?
Whoever got contact information on the other guy from Prescott (sorry, bad with names) that rode with us needs to let him know about the next ride.

All in all a good days ride. I'm looking forward to the next one.

Kobie

I told Ken about the Badweb and I believe he and Bill exchanged contact info. He has my number and e-mail address. I know another guy up here with a red M2 that may be selling it but likes to ride. I'll have to call him and see if he sold it or not.

Looking forward ; ).

Got a fairly deep gouge on the primary, not sure if it goes nearly all the way through or not. Going to try and just tighten the clutch up but I think the plates are totally glazed. Shoulder is nicely stiff and sore but otherwise its all good. Trans is locked and it is leaking from the primary around the shifter shaft. Otherwise I haven't dug into it. Will have to drill out the mounting bolt for the lever, and file some of the case that got crushed up over the broken bolt out of the way.

Kobie I didn't want to ruin the ride for everyoen else, that was what was important to me. We had come to ride, I wasn't going to let a little get off get me down and ruin it. I am just glad the timing worked the way it did and a solution that worked for everyone was there.

Yea Kobie, if only I learned how to ride that late 60's Yamaha 250 factory roadracer I had instead of screaming up and down like a drag racer on the country roads behind Ft Jackson South Carolina back in 72. Maybe as an old man I might not have to learn all over again how to ride. But I'm having fun!!! Buells are Great!!!

Hey Guys,

Sorry I disappeared for a while. It's been a rough couple weeks. I buried my Dad yesterday. His blood disease caught up with him and I'm just thankful to have spent his last days here with him. I could have been in Iraq or something...

Wycked,

Sorry to hear about your spill. Glad to know I'm not the only one who knows where the gravel is I'm really glad you're OK. If you need anything, let me know. I think I've still got a shift lever in that box of parts that came with my bike if you broke yours...

Bart,

It's good to see you are cared for. This past week has shown me how many people out there care for me and it feels really good. You are a fortunate man my friend... Get well soon. You're one of a kind.

Kobe,

Every time I read your posts I'm impressed at how your personality shines out through your text. Hard to do. You're great man. Wish I coulda been there for your guided ride.

Jerry,

Well, suffice it to say I won't be out to the dome after all There's always next year. Have a great ride!

All,

Is anyone planning to attend Firebird on the 8th? If so, maybe I can talk Eliz into a ride out...?

I'm still out of work...

Charlie...my condolences. I hope you and you're family are doing well. Don't think I'll be up to Firebird this weekend.

Bart, hows the old equilibrium? Are you getting closer? We need you back on two wheels! (you too Wycked!)

Charles, we're really sorry to hear about your Dad. please let us know if there is anything we can do to help. sometimes it seems like offering a kind word at a time like this isn't enough, but having been in your shoes i know that sometimes a kind word means everything.

may your Dad rest in peace, and may there be solace and comfort for you and your family amidst your sorrow.

Thank you for your words guys. It really does mean alot. It sucks that it takes times like these for you to realize how many truly love you, but it feels good just the same.

Now, who's up for meeting up in Phoenix this weekend? Is Firebird Fri or Sat? I would imagine Sat...

I won't be making Firebird, I'll be shooting people with paint balls in a jungle setting : ).

I'll certainly make it to the ride next weekend though. Who else is riding on the 16/17th?

Sandblast,

As much as you're looking forward to this ride, you can imagine how disappointed I am that I won't be going. I too look forward to riding with you again. Maybe you could take the San Diego guys on that route to Palm Desert and up into the mountains like last year. I think that was you...? I'd love to do that...

Wycked,

OK great Sun. Thanks for the info, I'll still be coming up. Are you going?

M1,

Have fun getting splattered. I kinda wish we had a place to play here. I know there are a few guys that go out into the desert, but there's no place to hide. It becomes a game of who can run who down; and I don't like running! LOL!

Exactly... That's why I like it up here. We've got a great field with lots of elevation change, huge trees, a creek... Two culverts running under the road... Tall grass... An excellent field : ). we'll be rebuilding our markers and making sure our ghillie suits are in proper order tonight. We'll probably play some four on four unless more people show up, and we'll certainly play some "alien" which is one on seven as well. The Alien can only die if he gets shot in a plate strapped to his back. If the Alien shoots you, you switch to his team. Interestingly enough, the Alien almost always wins unless you can suprise him and surround him immediately. Paintball is the coolest sport to play... We run communication and hand signals and all that. We had some Gen II Russian NV but sold it as it wasn't that good.

Anyway, have fun at the track...

Charlie,

Sorry to hear about your dad Bro. I'm glad you got to spend some time with him.

Whats going on at Firebird this weekend??

I'm back in town right now and feel the need for speed. The wife is having some medical problems that we need to figure out thats why I'm home from Kuwait right now. May be requesting permissive TAD or even a Humanitarian transfer, have to see what her doctor say's.

Update me on theses rides though, I might be able to sneak off 1 or 2 of them.

Good to see ya back Ski! (but not for the reasons you gave...hope your wife gets better!)
Hopefully you can make that ride to Prescott either the 16 or 17th. Prescott rocks! (I still hate you M1! )

Wycked...your bike up and running yet? Sounds like you got a lot of work to do. Did ya really have to drop the motor out? Egads that's gonna suck!

Charlie,
So sorry to hear about your Dad. It was good that you were able to spend time with him.
The miles made it impossible to be near when my Dad passed away.
Sometimes it doesn't pay to be on the other side of the country.
My thoughts and prayers go out to you my friend.

And it was a blast! I mean a 12...

Ski, still got your ###, give you a call tomorrow. I sure hope the best for your wife. Maybe we can hook up while I'm up there. Hell, for the cost, I don't know if I'll be going to Firebird... I just forked out $850 for a Saturn engine and about $350 for my sister to come down for the funeral. I'm strapped. Seems we all are lately...

Is everyone up for getting together, pitching in what we got, and drinking cheap beer Saturday night?

Also, thank you for the good thoughts Ski and Bart. And every one else for that matter...

Wycked, Did you not break the shifter then? Need to know if I should bring it...

Ski, hope things work out for your wife and you.

Charlie, sorry to hear about your Dad. I wish you and your family the best.

I'm snapping-in and have the safety brief for the pistol range tomorrow morning and firing next week. When do you work next? I'll either drop by there and see you or if you get a chance swing by if you see my bike parked at work, got something I need you to look at and listen to if you don't mind.

Ya'll have fun and take it easy this Holiday weekend, everyone ride safe.
