I got the typical road crap on my chin spoiler and I can't seem to get it clean this time. I tried the following cleaners in order. Windex, Simple Green, Korkay, Comet powder, Citris degreaser, Denatured Alcohol, and freaking Acetone! Nada. Any suggestions besides paint? |

Steve, on the ligher colored part right behind the tire that picks up most of the road grime I've mainly used 409 with good results. The rag looks like a bit of color is coming off but I've done it many times and it still seems to be the same color. I put a bit of polish on it when I do the rest of the bike, every couple of months or so... Kevin |

Once you get it cleand a coat of furniture pollish will makes things a little easier next time. WD40 works to keep the crap from staining also, but attracts the dust too easily. |

With plastics you need to not only clean it good but seal it up good. I haven't had to use anything more than Simple Green mixed 50/50 with water...then dry it off good. The key thing though is afterwards to seal it up with some type of moisturizer...I use Silicon Detailing spray and don't even wipe it off on the chin spoiler. I use the silicone on everything else on the bike...does wonders for the black japanned cases as well as painted/plastic surfaces...even cables and hoses get it. It might attract dirt a little more than normal but it also doesn't let dirt stick either...it kind of coats the part since the sealer is kind of protecting it. Of course I wash the bike every week or at least every 2 weeks when riding it regularly. |

OK, divulging a secret that made my plastics look like the day I bought the bike. Got it right off the shelf at Wally World. The product is called Back to Black. You wipe it on wet, let it dry, they buff out. WOW, like NEW! |
