I have an '03 XB9s. I was riding yesterday and my clutch cable started to tighten up...I mean really tight. It took 3 or 4 times the regular force to pull the clutch. It happened really fast. Over the course of about 20 miles it went from normal to really hard. I adjusted the clutch, the clutch cable, and lubricated per the manual. Also checked the cable routing, and removed/replaced all the cable fasteners. Now its back to normal. The weird part is everything seemed to be OK. Nothing was out of adjustment, the cable wasn't pinched, & the cable doesn't show any signs of wear. Has his ever happened to anyone else? |

Just happened to me in the past week. I haven't been able to lube or check it yet though. Mark Never Give Up! |

Check with Blake, I think he had a thread on here about his cable actually breaking after that. Nick |

I wonder if the barrel that holds the clutch cable in the lever was binding. Is the black plastic sleeve, around the barrel on the lever end of the clutch, beat up at all? Let us know if it breaks. |

Wasn't me. My '97 Cyclone still has the original clutch cable. I use that white lithium grease via aerosol can applied through a cable luber clamp for just such an application. |
