Here's a few pic's of my heat barrier I made. Shiny side goes down towards the motor and reflects radiant heat up to 2000F. The only thing I need to change today or tomorrow is a slot on the right side for the IAT sensor wire to feed thru and not mess up the way the blanket lays on the engine. Easy fix....I'm starting on my seat heat barriers today and will post pic's ASAP. Both blankets are made from DEI products and are very high temp resistant.

Cool beans. Selling them?

What about some form of heat deflector near the sides of the seats, send the heat out back rather than into the thigh?

Yea, I'm going to sell them. I'm thinking around $25.00 US Mail, shipping included (4th Class). I have thought about the sides of the seats where most of the heat hits my legs and think that deflecting the heat to the rear more towards the shock wouldn't do any harm. I'm not racing so I'm not too concerned about possibly heating up the shock a little more than usual. Going to take some thought though as you will be able to see the sides of the blanket thru the gap under the seat and making it stay exactly where you want it. I'm starting on a pattern this morning and should have something firm by tomorrow. I'm off work tomorrow so I can make some progress.

I dunno Odie, I'd be worried about the life range of the oil and seals. It may just be me being paranoid, but I was already worried about the shock and the heat it get already. Does anyone know? I sure would like to know.

If Cory at Ironmachine does the F.A.S.T system he should be able just to supply the thermal mat surely ? My company does, but the £/$ exhange rate makes them kinda expensive even with the UK V.A.T (17.5%) subtracted for export.

I used 1/2 inch weather striping on mine. Looked great on the left side, but with the thinner frame rail on the right, it did not look right.

That's some mighty fine binding work on the edges, Odie. Do you sew for a living?

No, I sew out of necessity!! If you haven't figured it out yet I like to do things for myself and save some $$$$! Sort of a jack of all, master of none......But yes, I have sewn for quite a few years. People get a chuckle out of it when they find out I sew and the wife doesn't,LOL...Odie

I sew for a living, that's why I asked. I thought for a second I'd finally run into someone who did what I do for a living.
Keep it up!

Lpowel02, it runs a little cooler under the airbox now (remember I'm still running my lower airbox piece) but I think the biggest advantage will come from removing the airbox and running just the heat barrier. I'm waiting on Trench tractor to tell me what kind of gains/losses he gets moving the IAT into different positions under the airbox lid. Overall I'm happy with it though and should post a finished under-seat heat barrier tonight. My rear end gets way sweaty riding on hot days down here and I think it will do wonders!.....Odie (p.s. pipe mod turned out REAL well!) Later....odie

Jad2, are you talking about under the seat heat barriers you used weather stripping on??

Odie, I used weather stripping to fill the gaps between the air box cover, seat and faring and the frame. I figured the heat would follow the path of least resistance out the back. Like I mentioned before the left side of the bike actually looked good but the right side is a little thinner which exposed the weather stripping.
