I don't usually go on about stuff I do but I am just buzzin' because Erik says in the latest Fuell that one of my pictures was the inspiration for the new CityX. I have experienced a lot of cool stuff because of Buells but this one takes the cake. Erik needed PR shots of the RW but I though a "ghost" image would be cool and he was willing to hang out while I tired to pull it off. Now I had done double exposures before but never anything with a large format studio camera nor of anything as detailed or as large as a bike. I managed to borrow dozens of yards of black velvet from another photographer and we snuck the bike into the studio late one evening. The place I worked did not have any fancy strobe lights, just real basic stuff and the studio was way too small for a bike so it was real challange to light the thing. Came out pretty well but there was a slight bit of movement while taking the bodywork off so a very small area of the back of the bike did not look quite right. Last year I managed to scann the 4x5 negative and fixed that in photoshop and it now looks great. I have a print hanging on the wall and I gave one to Erik and they are very cool. I will have to get a good shot of the CityX to put next to it. |

Just saw the article today Dave, awesome! Even cooler was that that you were referred to as a friend, not just an employee. |

BTW Dave, if you do make that enlargement with the original image, and a good similar shot of the XB9Sx, I would *love* to buy one. |

Erik and I were friends before I was an employee actually (he sold me a used car and even that did not screw it up!), I little weird working of a friend but with a litle work we made it work. Here is a link to the shot. Don't have a combined photo for sale but this one is :0) http://www.davegess.com/buelhist/rw750/RW75CHS.htm |

That's a great photo of a rather great motorcycle Dave. Is the frame of Mr Buell's making do you know? Rocket |

Dave -- it's always wonderful to help a friend -- the fact that two friends were able to hammer out a working relationship is the highest possible praise for the both of you, and the strength of your relationship -- while the shot is wonderful, the remaining friends part is even more so -- cool stuff, indeed, and a great example! |

Thanks guys. I am still buzzing over this, it has just made my week. It reinforces to me that Erik files everything he see or hears somewhere in his brain and one days it comes out as something on a bike. |

I started reading that article and knew exactly which photo they were referencing. Way too cool. Congrats Dave! Just one more little tale that makes our beloved bikes and the people associated with them just that much cooler! Alex |
