In changing the rear tire...should anything be greased while apart....like the axel. I noticed that it had some grease in the middle of it?..I know you should put some anti-seize on threads and what-not. |

It is worth putting anti sieze on the threads and a bit on the opposite end where the axle slides into the swingarm. The front axle seems to be the larger problem though. If you haven't had it off, it is likely a good idea to go ahead and do it to put anti seize on the front axle so you don't have the problems others have had. Don't forget that the front axle turns backwards to remove it (look for the arrow on the fork). |

The anti-seize compound should also be on all points where it contacts the swingarm and the rear wheel. Just apply to all areas other than the thinnest part. |

Thanks guys...when i removed my rear axle, it had grease on the actual shaft...not the races of the bearing but the middle. Does this mean my bearings are leaking??? |

No, it's just leftover grease from the axle itself. Since the thinner area doesn't contact anything, naturally it's the only visible place with grease 'left' after a little while. |
