It looks like Bryan Bemisderfer will FINALLY get to ride with a #1 plate. After earning it in the Lightning series, the series was cancelled. So he goes and gets it in Thunderbike. Congradulations to him and Harding HD. Jeff Johnson lost out to a oil problem and that sucks. I hope he's OK and still getting ready for Daytona. Now, Everybody send an email to any Buell shop that sponsors a rider, promising to buy something if they enter their rider in the 200 in March. |

Congrats to Bryan Bemisderfer, he is a true champion and like Sportsman says, he finally gets to use his #1 plate and we are all happy for him. If you read his profile on the Buell web site, he really means what he says when his family is more important to him than racing, he is a devote Christian and father and I am proud to call him a very good friend! Excellent job Bryan and the entire Jeff Harding - Harding Harley Davidson team! |

Don't downplay Jeff Johnson's skill! If it weren't for the oil line, he'd have been in there - he was running podium-potential times. You have a great representative of Hoban Brothers in his talent! Glad he was able to carry on after the red flag - it's too bad that he was docked the 6 laps for the bike switch. I am in awe of the ability of these amazing guys. I only wish I had had some time on the bike this year prior to first race day on Friday. That being said, it WAS a fun time just being in that crowd! Didn't imagine everybody'd be so sportsman-like. Jeff Johnson would make a point of stopping by before heading out to give a thumbs up. I was pitting with Jeff Ecklund who was racing for Bartels on a stock XB9 - except for pipes, ECM and slicks. He qualified 9th and finished 9th - on a bike with STOCK suspension and motor. He wasn't even wanting to race but got talked into it by Bill Bartels (he was race-prepping the bike for another rider) GEEEZ - that's some fast company!!! Estok and Ecklund raced together back in the 883 days and he'd come by the pits to talk with Jeff and the whole time, I'm just slinking away in my best "I'm not worthy" shuffle. It was a fuuunnn race but where I was - I was more like an on-track spectator - but having the time of my life - didn't scare myself or anybody else and still have the bike leftover for next month at Willow. This WAS a great race. I'm still a little overwhelmed. |

And you Mr. Hoban, are a gentleman. It's cool you mentioned his family, At Pocono a couple years ago, he was riding his new baby around on a pit bike and my girlfriend said "Look at Bryan, the big bad Buell rider that just won Thunderbike, is just beaming with pride showing off his baby" She was impressed and so was I. Buell riders are good people. Slaughter, I can relate to the spectator part of your post. I couldn't dream of catching those guys but just being on track with them is cool enough for me as long as I'm not in the way. You did great! (Message edited by sportsman on September 20, 2004) |

Yep, Congrats to Bryan and the Harding crew on the season. They are a great bunch who always make you feel welcome and glad you are there. Of course, it wasn't the result I wanted, as I was helping Jeff in the Hoban pits. We had reason to be optimistic too. Jeff had two first place finishes and a second in CCS races before Sunday, and his lap times had been getting better and better all weekend. I have no doubt he would have been on the podium in the final if not for the oil line. Slaughter did an excellent job as well. It did feel a little strange not being in his pits to help him, because Steve and I are friends who ride together on Sundays in our BRAG chapter. I got to see many friends that I hadn't seen in a while, many that I see more often and always enjoy seeing, as well as making many new friends that hope to see again soon. All in all it was exciting, enriching, educational and yes, sad too. Well, that's racing I suppose. Timbo |

A few pics... Jeff on track Bryan watching his bike being dyno'ed. Hoban Bros bikes Harding HD/Buell pits Tim Hurley, Sunny and Steve Slaughter in Team Lavinyurasov pits Nellis AFB was right next to the track, jets were taking off and flying over all weekend, it was like being at an air show AND the races. Nice van! Timbo |

Hutch, It was fun. We decided to just take it easy since it's been a year since that bike had been on a track and finish with all the pieces in the same places we started with (both bike and body) It's fun just being a part of it. There's so much courtesy and help out there. It's a much more "gentlemanly" sport than I had ever thought. So much to learn - after seeing some of the simple changes done by some of the teams - the list of things to do to the bike just got BIGGER! |

For anyone who's curious, I believe those be F-15's in the air. Faster than most Buell's but I think we can take them on the twisties!! |

Finally got some pics together - unfortunately, don't have (yet) the on-track shots that I'd like but here are some souvenirs: When the Green Flag Drops... We had nearly 40 minute red flag because of oil on the track. Timbo mentioned Jeff Johnson's tip-over because he had oiled his tire after breaking an oil line. Once it was confirmed that we were going to be off the bikes for some time, there was a mad rush to get tire warmers, generators and GET TO THE BATHROOM!!! We pitted with Bartels' Jeff Ecklund - an amazing racer. Qualified and finsihed 9th on a stock bike (except exhaust, ECM and slicks) And as always at these events, Buell was well represented by Henry Duga. He's always there with advice, questions about what settings we're using and their truck had a HUGE amount of spares we were likely to need - a really great asset to Buell racing!
