Had a bad day today, went into town on the M2 as the sun was shining and all was right with the world, til I got pulled over by one of the local Bike Cops for a too loud exhaust (G-Force oval stainless racecan) now I've got to take the bike back for an inspection with an approved exhaust on it before the 25th, & guess what, the only officially French approved can is the original. Theoretically any Euro approved can should be OK but the French aren't accepting it til 2007 apparently, I'm a bit unsure about being turned down with a Euro can so the original has to go back on for a while, just as soon as I can find someone to weld it back together! HSA make a nice can, german tuv & euro rated but it's about 700 bucks! so it'll have to wait. It seems, from chatting at the dealers, that the guy has it in for anyone with something slightly out of the ordinary, all his colleagues ride HD & he even wrote up the wife of one of his colleagues in the police car park. His turn will no doubt come, as we all know, what goes around comes around, I just hope I'm there to witness it. Moan over, Mr VERY Grumpy |

Sorry to hear that. Personally I'm not entirely for too loud pipes on my bikes (I like long rides, and the noise is too tiring), but it sucks getting busted for a relatively sedate pipe like that. Good luck Henrik |

Grumpy - do you ride a 9 or a 12? I have a HSA that I had on my 9 for a good deal. Even have the 9 race ECM if you're interested for the package... Tüv and everything! |

I've got a loud pipe, no signals, no horn, a poor excuse for a mirror, etc...and the only ticket I've had in years is a frikkin' parking ticket! (though a $250 ticket) I feel for you man |

How is a parking ticket worth $250.00? Handicapped parking, can go up as high as $500 in the US, but since my wife is handicapped i dont feel sorry for you(if thats the case and i hope its not or at least you never have to use one for real) R |

A jerk cop. It was a spot against a curb next to the handicap parking. It was a huge area so I didn't think it was handicap access. The jerk cop was parked right next to me and I gestured to him and he didn't say or do anything. A bike was also parked in the same spot right across from me. 5 minutes later I came back with a ticket and some pamphlets explaining parking ettiquette. I took one and wrote "THANKS A** HOLE, FRIENDLY CITIZEN" on it and left it on the cops car. The guy walked circuitously around to avoid a confrontation that would likely have occurred. |

My father has a handicapped permit for and arthritic condition of the spine. He never uses it as he feels there are a lot of others worse off. Wow thats a lot of bucks though, too bad its not like that around here. |

Well I've had the old can welded back together today & I'll take it for inspection tomorrow. I've been on a French Buell forum & apparently it's not that uncommon a problem, I was even told that I'm lucky as usually there's a €45 fine goes with it, ah well I'll let the dust settle & put the loud shiny one back on in the spring It won't have any winter deterioration either (every cloud etc) |

Oh well, I know now to stay off ANY striped area! I was pissed so I complained about the cop...and was told he was not obligated to tell me if I could park there. I guess it's better to watch a crime, then prosecute than to prevent it from taking place in the first. I think some of these guys just need a papertrail to have something to show for. |

"and was told he was not obligated to tell me if I could park there" There's a flip side to this, the day will come that you'll get to take advantage of it with a remember me smile. |
