In a sea of exquisitely built and adorned choppers, this brute attracted my attention. I took these shots for you guys because I knew you'd understand.

Jersey, quickly click on the edit button and put a return after each picture. Saw one one of those at a local shop recently. Would be fun to test ride one. Then take the $55,000 price tag and buy 15 used 'tuber Buells instead. |

Mike, Odd, the BBS won't let me edit. No biggie. The price is way over the top IMHO. It did appear that first rate components were used along with some one off parts. I didn't really like the exhaust in the swingarm concept. I threw a leg over and I must admit that it felt quite familiar.... |

I've seen one in person and talked to an engineer who works for them in New Orleans. They are pretty amazing bikes, and they should be for the money. |

I have had that bike on my computer for a screen saver for about a year now. When it came out in concept last year I got a strange feeling inside. I wasn't sure when they would start being produced...but it does something to the those that find the Buell/Hellcat thing cool. |

i read a review of the hellcat that said it handled really well...despite its 240 rear tire their latest prototype is the wraith...very funky looking...

Wasn't the first Hellcat a G2 or something. I saw one in a shop near Aaron's place in CO back in 2001. Used, but like new, and $25000. My friend builds a lot of one off custom Harleys. He told me the problem with the big inch S&S motor is where it sits in the frame in relation to the chain run if you fit something like a 240 rear. The motor is more to one side than central which isn't ideal for handling characteristics. Hellcat's, I love 'em. Rocket |

I'll take a 999R, XB12 with Nallins Kit, and a KTM Duke Supermot for the same price. These guys need to stop sniffin' the fumes ... 55G |

I have read that the hell cats ride very well actually, the owner and desinger of the confederate company is also a big fan of Britten , and buell and really is trying to incorporate sport bike and crusier. yeah the price is high, but you would be the only one on the block to have one. god know If I was loaded I would have a hellcat, I have always liked that bike and what confederate has done. |

I can' find the pic right now but there was a Wraith at the salt this year. That huge fork caked in salt, couldn't find how fast it ended up going. My guess is not very fast, as everyone was having trouble getting traction because of the wet salt. |

Over on SacBORG someone posted it went less that 130mph. http://www.landracing.net/cgi-bin/pro/emAlbum.cgi?c=show_image;p=Bub%20Speed%20Trials/2004/September%208,%202004;i=42 http://www.landracing.net/cgi-bin/pro/emAlbum.cgi?c=show_thumbs;p=Bub%20Speed%20Trials/2004/September%208,%202004;i=40;pg=3 cut-n-paste the address in, the special characters are messing up the linkage. |

Thanks Mike. 130 ain't bad for a naked bike on wet salt. Wonder what it would do on asphalt |

If you go to the news section on the Confederate site it has an advertisement for Bonneville Sept 6-10 but the only update is on Sept 2. The obviously had some issues or they would be advertising their success. I'm not sure what record they're talking about here. I think the bikes are awesome, but unfortunately they have to charge that much for a startup company making handbuilt cycles. I could care less if another cruiser company goes under because they're all just copycats but these guys are at least putting out a unique product. I'm not big on carbon fiber everything but the designs are unique and they're actually trying to get great handling characteristics. From www.confederate.com 09.02.04 After a full day of rain on Monday and mushy grounds on Tuesday, the Wraith made its first test run as the sun set yesterday. Official speed: 129.80 mph! With only one pass under their belts and two days remaining, the Confederate team feels 100% confident a record-smashing run will be achieved. |

Hmmm, I had a friend over last night for a couple beers and pulled the Hellcat brochure out of a drawer (I've been drooling over it for a while now). I hadn't ever seen pricing on it, but I pegged it at around $50-60k. Guess I was right on track... Oh well, I guess I'll own it someday (in my dreams anyway)... |
