Very thoughtful of you Mark. I need another project like a hole in the head! Ok, that's most definitely a 4 speed manual transmission. The motor is an 8v 'B' series fitted in all the first generation Saab Turbo's from 1977 through to 1981. They were all 99 Turbo's. That motor in 1978 found its way into Saab's second generation model, the 900. It stayed there until 1981, by which time the later 'H' series motor hit production. That trike motor is from the 900 model. Don't ask me how I know. The best thing to do with such a project is this. Junk that motor \ tranny combo and slot the full thing back in out of a mid 80's early 90's 900 16v Turbo. Those 'B' series made a lot of power, were carved from granite but the turbo set-up suffered great lag and the mechanical waste gate though simple was not as easy to play around with as the later model APC units. The water pumps were also a major pain in the rectum on the 'B' motor. Buy a scrap donor 16v Turbo (Mark's got one with a drop top ) and use all the ECU's, fuse box and wiring harness and you'll be good to go. Bloody hell Mark, I'm gonna have to bid now I've talked myself into it! Rocket |
