Ack. They look better than the previous model, IMO, but still fugly. Speaking as someone who worked on the prototypes, avoid the '05s like the plague. At least give them two years to work the 'lovable kinks' out. We named our first one 'Eleanor', after the car from Gone In 60 Seconds...you know, the kinky 'stang that kept letting him down? There's a red one sitting in the parking lot outside - a calibration vehicle. CALIBRATION VEHICLE. They hit showroom floors in weeks, and they're still doing engine/transmission calibration. |

yeah, I've been reading about all the issues.. I think its the best looking stang sense the good old days.. I luv it. the stock ones need some cosmetic tweaking but its a good start. |

We bought a first model year Ford Explorer and it was great. Not all first year vehicles are bad. |

You could sleep in the back seat and it must have a lighter plug you can run your coffee machine from. Problem solved! |

I know. I've had 3 '66 one '65 and a 67 xr-7 cougar and one 84 SVO mustang the mustang I had in ~97 and all the rest where right out of high school when I was learning to do autobody/paint work.. Its time for another muscle car I think.. needs a hood scoop of some kind, the 66 style rear side windows, and different wheels. oh, lowered of course |

I'm not sure about it. It sits a little high, needs some 24in. spinner dubs a pimped out system, some vinyl, neon, and a hot chick. Actually it does need to sit a little lower, needs a lower profile wheel/tire package, and I think the windows behind the b-pillar are hideous. This is just my opinion now but I think they will sell like hotcakes the first year or two and slowly start to decline in sales. Just look at the new beetle, and ford's own thunderbird. Both are going to be out of production in the not to distant future because of the retro design. People love the car but eventually they are gonna say ok its nice but I want something modern looking. Ford knew it was a huge risk to do a retro design and I am surprised they went through with it especially on a car as important as the mustang. So I say after two model years ford will be in panic mode because of slow sales and will hope the cobra will help out but you know what most people aren't stupid and they realize the base car and the GT don't offer the same performance level as the Cobra. And I thinks its ridiculous that ford won't give everyone IRS. They claim solid axle's give better launches at the dragstrip. That's is the dumbest reason to offer lackluster tech ever. A properly designed IRS will give similiar if not equal performance at the track and it will corner and ride nicer as well. Oh and IRS is usually lighter because the suspension isn't over built because it doesn't have to carry the weight of the differential. Sorry for the rant but I think Ford had the opportunity to hit a home run and I think they just missed the mark, big time. |

I'm looking into getting one. But I might do like Darthane said, wait a couple years till they get it right. I'd like to see the mark up they are going to have. |

I'm thinking Ford hasn't missed the mark at all. Ford dominated the pony car market for the at least the last 15 years. They effectively killed off better performing Camaros and Trans Ams with an uninspiring Fairmont platform. I've owned an '84 GT and a '98 GT convertible and enjoyed both. This new Mustang has me lusting for a V8 again. 300 hp and 315 lb ft of torque for under $30K!! I think if any new pony car has missed the mark it's Pontiac and the new GTO. |

I love My 00 mustang, and the new 05s are having me do some serious thinking about trading in. Then again 07 will have the New Cobra. Of course the 03 cobra is the bargain right now. Got to love the whine of the blower |

I'm saying the retro design wiil eventually be the car's downfall. In my opinion not including IRS was a big mistake. The GTO has IRS the Magnum has IRS why not mustang? |

A stick axle isn't so bad with a few links here, a few heim's there, A watt's link in just the right spot... |

I'm saying the retro design wiil eventually be the car's downfall Why?..everything moves in a Big circle. Look at the whole retro chopper scene. Hell who thought Bellbottoms would re-surface. I would much rather see a retro style to the new Mustang, than a futuristic look. Chevy needs to bring back the 69 look to the Camaro.

I think the retro design looks good on the Stang it has the look of a 1969 fast-back. Your right Gonen it's every 2 years. I thought they made a cobra in 2004. I'd like to see how the Cobra looks if it comes in the 2005 model. |

you're right it does move in a circle. look at the new beetle sold well in first year or two but now vw dealers can't get them to leave the lot the thunderbird is even worse they never really sold at all despite being a Motor Trend Car of the Year. The SSR isn't doing too well but I think that's because it's slow. Pt Cruiser sales are dropping. And now that the mini has been out for a while it's sales are starting to come back to a normal level. Retro is good to start sales hype but it doesn't sell well in the long run. And about the solid axle being good that's true it can work well but it's still a hell of a lot of unsprung weight and the IRS is usually gonna out handle a live axle any day. Look at the slalom and skidpad numbers on today's cobra vs. the GT. The cobra smokes it. |

These retro cars are coming to the end of a short circle. |
