What do you use to clean the molded-in-color plastic on these bikes? It seems like the plastic is easy to scratch. | ||

Honda spray wax cleaner with Harley "soft cloth". If you're careful, using the harley scratch remover paste works (go lightly). I'm sure other scratch removers work just as well. | ||

Hey!! I've been using the Honda Spray for 4 years! That stuff is great for everything including the rubber on the grips and the mirrors. | ||

Yep, Honda Cleaner rocks. Havent anything yet that works faster or easier. One of the local HD shops was using Endust to clean the Buells with. I tried it but wasnt impressed at all. | ||

For detail work, I recently switched to Harley's line of products. Work great and not too bad on the budget. Used Plexxus but switched to Honda's spray cleaner years ago. Less streaking. I always carry a can in my tail pack for on the road clean ups. From what I understand most all the spray cleaners are the same with the exception of Plexxus. Most likely one manufacturer that does private labeling like a lot of the automotive detail products. Honestly haven't found a bad brand yet. Therefore, you are safe in shopping for the best price. | ||

Harley spray polish works like crap on rubber though! Not that great on mirrors also. I found it is only good on chrome and plastic! | ||

On anything shiny even black plastic and rubber, the hands down best cleaner/polish I've found is S1000 Detail and Wax. It cleans and shines like top dollar show car wax. And it comes in a small diameter spray can that is easy to pack into a tail bag or what have you. Works great for debugging/cleaning/polishing faceshields too. | ||

PS: The S1000 Detail and Wax shines better than the Honda Spray stuff. Guaranteed. The Honda stuff seems to have more cleaner/solvent content where the S1000 has more polish/wax. | ||

I dont know what S1000 is, but I have tried S100 on my HD & was never too impressed with it. I have tried just about everything out there, Eagle one products, Meguirs, etc. And for chrome I prefer Mothers chrome polish, plastic I use Honda cleaner & for painted parts I actually like the Harley Glaze. Gives a nice finish. | ||

OK... since we are on the cleaning topic(sorta) what are you using on the 9 wheels(Aluminum) I have a hard time getting mine real shinny. I know I should just get them powder coated. OH and are you using the same for the cooling fins on the front cylinder. My wife is getting tired of me using her toothbrush. Well, it really is not me using her toothbrush... it's putting it back. | ||

Mother's Aluminum Polish. Get it from the Rice Rocket Shops and Auto Supply Stores. Bad news is you will still be using her toothbrush and a towel or two cut into strips so you can buff it like a pair of shoes. I use Mother's once a year and do the touch ups with the Honda Spray Cleaner/Wax. Nice shine and easy to maintain. | ||

Ditto the Honda Polish Spray. It melts away bug goo and wipes to a shine. Great for one or two touch ups between washing. SteveH | ||

Mr Sheen. Most of the bike shops here are guilty of using Mr Sheen as it works like a treat and is real cheap. One cloth to rub it in and a clean one to take it off. |
