Made mine this morning also. Don't forget there's tax too. Gota get those tourism dollars! Still not a bad deal considering. Bet I can make it up in snacks! |

Hey Jerry,Ilooked at the Barewood Hotel site.It looks like they took that lake shot from YOUR yard!I also noticed when they show YOUR place they mention Friendly People!Mighta' been WHAT we told them when we stayed there last year doing the Pre-Ride mapping!(we laid it on thick!!)They gave us the JACUZZI room,(far right room)at no extra cost and we enjoyed that IMMENSELY!.....When talking to Christine at the Montecito Lodge she told me about the FREE to us Buffet dinner,Breakfast,24 hour hot and cold drinks AND the FREE use of their Boats for on the lake. The Cabin with 3 seperate bedrooms across the way sounds WAY cool and we need to promote THAT PLACE!!We could have our OWN place for partying without any other guests next door (which sounds like the way since a group of Lawyers are there also!).Lets get more people to reserve for this place!! |

We (the Lightons, Zach will be on the back of my S3, Joanne on her SV650) have booked into Montecito for Saturday night. Plan would be for us to sleep in our trailer in your driveway like last year on Friday night...cool? Al |

EBear, thanks for the plug at the Barewood. re: the cabin across the lake, sounds good, but makes it difficult to party with the rest of the attendees? (so far we're up to about 20 people, probably more), or maybe not, maybe it makes sense for us to get the cabin and make it THE party HQ that night? thoughts? Al, sounds good. if we park your trailer in the same place (blocking off that section of the pad like last year) it's one less place for drunk O'fasters to tumble off the mountain! we hadn't anticipated kids at Oktoberfast, what with all the beer drinkin', language and raucousness that ensued last year. we really don't have anything to offer youngsters in the way of entertainment but lookin' forward to seeing the three of you again. Ya Ferris, thats what I meant! That friend of yours at the Montecito is a really nice lady...she said she was holding that cabin for us and I think we should take her up on that!It would be ideal to keep us together and away from the less nefarious types!! |

As an only-kid of parents that have more kid-less friends than kid-ded friends, Zach is used to being around adults in party situations. But in the eve, he'll be sent to bed in the trailer and he'll be long asleep by the time the adults are completely rowdy and inebriated. No worries, he'll be fine. Al |

I'll be hauling up an ice chest of beer & such the night before. Some cola also. I've heard others will be bringing some also but I don't know who/much. Plenty of stores close to the Dome if needed. There's a fair amount of floor space between the living room & patio. I intend to drop off a cot with the ice chest which might give me more options. See ya there. |

Sorry I forgot to add that there is a spare bedroom too. Plus now a guest room their working on to get ready. Sounds like a lot of floor space. |

Those of you who are going definitely need to pack warm riding gear just in case. The "Bostrom" & "Lions Tail" were quite cold today due to a early cold snap. Hard to say if we will be hot, cold, or in between in three weeks. |

It's likely to be considerably more chilly at Montecito-Sequoia than near Isabella. I went thru the park a week ago Sunday, before it cooled down in this area, and it was almost too cool for my summer gear even then. That's okay, just run your adjustable windshield up to the top and turn on the heated grips...whoops, wrong riding group...sorry. |

Very true about Sequoia vs Isabella temps Dino. Its warming up here now but still cooler than normal. Btw I was wearing the Frank Thomas gear you last saw me in but with the inserts in and insulated gloves. Sense we were actually riding the roads and dirt trails over the top of the mountains above the "Lions Tail" I chose a more open helmet.I would have been fine with the addition of a head/neck warmer. My partner was in more traditional off road gear and was quite cold at times. We rode the "Bostrom" on the way home and it was just as cold going over the top there as up in the clouds atop Breckenridge that morning. Even with Dual Sports and 50/50 tires we flew up from Isabella then down the backside to Glennville and then home. Been a while and its a great road and I'm still razzed. Looking forward to riding the Buell on it. |

Hey Dino...hope you can get out of that water jam you are always in to come down and ride! I plan on bringing very cold gear, heated vest, Frank Thomas pants with inserts, silk underwear, cold weather gloves, etc. etc. I suspect it will be cooler this year than last...what ya think? Scott |

Scott...It was pretty warm up at 6K+ this last weekend, but in another week and a half...who knows. At Montecito it should be somewhere between slightly chilly and damn chilly. My current schedule does not have me at the Thunderdome this year, but we will be doin' some riding together. Char & I will be at the lodge on Saturday night. See ya soon, Dino |
